Following an extensive run of shows across Europe and the UK, Asha Jefferies returns to Australia with ‘Growing Pains‘. Featuring on Ego Ride (Route Extended), out November 8th via Nettwerk, the single played first by triple j, deepens Asha’s exploration of personal growth and self-discovery. Having recently supported Courtney Barnett, Hana Vu, Margaret Glaspy and Lord Huron and played festivals in Germany, Amsterdam, and Paris, Asha will bring her refined live set across the East Coast this October, supporting Middle Kids and playing Ability Fest in Melbourne and Brisbane.
Following the release of ‘Crumble‘ in August, ‘Growing Pains‘ further explores the themes of growth, identity, and renewal present throughout Asha’s debut album, Ego Ride. Asha shares, “’Growing Pains‘ is a song about growing out of a relationship and reflecting on the aftermath. When you’ve closed a chapter in your life and are yet to enter a new one, the in between stages can be filled with both loss/loneliness and freedom/renewal. It’s electrifying and exhausting. I find the term growing pains so interesting, it is inherently a good problem. It means you’re growing and getting stronger. As painful as it can be, it is a hopeful thing.”
Ego Ride was recorded by Asha’s long-term collaborator Sam Cromack (Ball Park Music) at Prawn Records in the inner north of Brisbane. Across the album, Jefferies found herself coming back to the same themes, also evident on the deluxe album tracks. She says, “Looking back, I realised that a lot of the narratives throughout the album are tied to my ego – whether that’s moments where I felt on top of the world or totally crumbled.”
The Brisbane-based songwriter and frog enthusiast has had a remarkable 2024, showcasing at The Great Escape and Reeperbahn, winning over audiences across Europe. Before releasing her debut album, Asha released two EPs, shared stages with Julia Jacklin, and performed at festivals like BIGSOUND and Bluesfest. In recognition of her burgeoning career, Asha has earned accolades such as a Queensland Music Award and has been a finalist in both the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition and the International Songwriting Competition (ISC). Her recent releases have received praise from notable UK and US outlets, Flood Magazine, Line Of Best Fit and Atwood, airplay on KCRW and KEXP as well as praise from local outlets Pilerats, The Music and Rolling Stone.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
