Two years since her debut, breakthrough mixtape DEMIDEVIL, genre-blurring pop star Ashnikko (she/they) releases her latest single “You Make Me Sick!” with an accompanying music video.
“You Make Me Sick!” sees Ashnikko at their most turbulent as her voice breaks into a roar as she makes lyrics like “you fucking loser!” sound like a death sentence. Over a nu-metal-inspired distortion and menacing beat, written alongside long-time collaborators Slinger and Oscar Scheller, Ashnikko cuts an ex-boyfriend down to size. In a way we’ve never seen before, the music video documents a repulsed Ashnikko use aggression as an energy source. Speaking on the track Ashnikko states: “I’ve decided to come back with my angriest, most cathartic song to date. My own personal rage room for me to smash my plates.”
Since releasing their debut mixtape DEMIDEVIL in January 2021, the last few years have been a whirlwind from amassing over 2.5 Billion streams globally to slew of platinum and gold-certified hits followed by joining forces with Grimes, Lady Gaga, Kelis and Princess Nokia. The past year has seen Ashnikko sell out her debut headline tour including two nights at London’s Kentish Town Forum, play to a packed out stage at Reading and Leeds, Governors Ball, Life Is Beautiful and more.
2023 will see Ashnikko embark on her debut tour of Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Ashnikko will bring her universe to Coachella for her debut performance at the festival before wreaking havoc in Europe at Cabaret Vert Festival, TRNSMT, Rock For People and more.
