Hot off the back of her widely acclaimed debut EP Nocturnal Hours Melbourne trailblazer ASHWARYA, has dropped a fresh track, the beat laden ‘FLARE’ (via NOiZE Recordings). ‘FLARE’ is a track that twists and turns, is laced with light and shade, which once again perfectly showcases ASHWARYA’S formidable talent.
ASHWARYA explains the theme behind the single, “Flare is about the tension that plays out between not knowing if someone likes you back and searching for their signal. It traverses between holding back your emotions or fully letting go of them to show them how much they mean to you. It’s tricky because it can become a fickle game, and eventually, you’re longing to feel loved regardless, but ‘I’m in too deep’ to realise.”
FLARE follows on from widely praised singles ‘LOVE AGAIN’, ‘TO THE NIGHT’ (ft Vic Mensa), ‘PSYCHO HOLE’, ‘BIRIYANI’ and ‘COMIN@ME’, all of which joined the previously unreleased track ‘HIDE YOU UP’, on ASHWARYA’s illustrious debut EP. The EP will now also include the brand new single FLARE. The body of work is a glamorous and insightful look into the mind of a young pop auteur, produced by Jarrad Rogers (Charli XCX, Mark Ronson, Icona Pop) and mixed by Jamie Snell (Mura Masa, Ellie Goulding, Dua Lipa). Nocturnal Hours is ASHWARYA at her purest, and speaks to her ambition to not only become a fixture of the pop landscape, but to stay true to her distinct personality and sound throughout. The record’s title reflects the pensieve and varied thoughts that arise once the sun goes down, and the palette matches, with gleaming synths and shuddering drum hits.
Nocturnal Hours has already received countless amounts of praise from publications such as NME, 10 Magazine, Fashion Journal, Frankie, Rolling Stone India and Pilerats. ASHWARYA has also been announced as one of the recipients of the coveted Bigsound 2021 Levi’s Music Prize and has been profiled in fashion bibles PAPER, Oyster Mag, The Face, ACCLAIM, COMPLEX and more. She has featured across numerous DSP playlists including the cover spot on Pop N Fresh, Front Left, Get Popped!, additions to over 20 New Music Fridays, and cemented her position at Australian radio.
