“I wanted it to feel like being manic or unstable,” she explains. “It’s about living between your unhealed past and the present, and trying to separate the two. That process can feel overwhelming, like opening gateways to old wounds every time you look back.”
Musically, Waterworks reflects that intensity. Deeply inspired by the sonic experimentation of Hiatus Kaiyote, Aubany leans into rhythmic unpredictability and layered textures to evoke the volatility of regret, memory, and self-forgiveness. The result is a track that’s as unsettling as it is liberating.
