Singer-songwriter Alfie Arcuri, the first openly gay winner of The Voice Australia (2016) and LGBTQI advocate, releases the gay love ballad, Handsome Man, and receives an industry nod with a nomination in the prestigious Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition.
Handsome Man, an emotive ballad recognising the deep love between two men, is destined to become the romantic first dance song at same-sex weddings around the world.

“To my knowledge, a romantic gay wedding song doesn’t really exist. So, at this time where same-sex marriages are embraced, I thought it was fitting for gay couples to have a dedicated, meaningful love song that could be sung during nuptials,” Arcuri says. “Ultimately, this track is an ode to loving someone so deeply, the kind of love that transcends time and space and can’t be confined to pages or photos or memories — it’s forever alive.”
The magical video clip, filmed on a Woodland property in Dandenong, and Richmond, Victoria, captures a tender, loving relationship between two men on their wedding day, with the narrative following not only the union – but one of the father’s journey of acceptance of his son. Arcuri explains: “There wasn’t a dry eye on set, we created something truly special that day.”
On Feb 11, Handsome Man was unveiled as a nominee for the prestigious annual Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition. With an all-time high number of 4,000+ entries from 46 countries, Arcuri is nominated alongside Vera Blue, Thelma Plum, Lime Cordiale, Tash Sultana, Teskey Brothers, Washington, Ruel, Baker Boy and more.
“I’m honoured to be nominated alongside such incredible talent,” says Arcuri, “It’s also a hugely rewarding example of how accepting the industry is of the LGBTQI community – especially gratifying at this time where we celebrate all things LGBTQI with Mardi Gras.”

About ALFIE ARCURI
Raised in a loving Italian family, Alfie Arcuri was a humble architect just prior to appearing on The Voice. Having only ever sung once in public at his sister’s wedding shortly beforehand, he decided last minute to apply for the show.
Since being crowned The Voice winner in 2016, Alfie Arcuri has achieved global success. Boasting an impressive
7 million+ streams for his first hit single If They Only Knew, Arcuri’s sexy, edgy style has continued to dominate with performances across Australia, Europe and the US, and penning tracks including the 2017 Marriage Equality campaign anthem Love is Love and the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest Cyprus entry song, Running.
As a performer, Arcuri has headlined some of the biggest national television appearances including The State of Origin, Melbourne Cup’s Exclusive Bird Cage, and Channel Nine’s Carols by Candlelight. He was also a finalist in the 2019 Eurovision – Australia Decides which led to representing Australia at one of Europe’s biggest Song Contests, Golden Stav, where he won Best Song Interpretation.
As a songwriter, Arcuri has penned tracks for Sandro for his Cyprus’s Official Eurovision 2020 Entrant Song and for Sheldon Riley’s Winners single for 2018’s The Voice Australia. AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
