Hailing from Melbourne, Acolyte stands tall in the Australian music scene as a powerful and exploratory blend of both classic and modern progressive metal.

Painting a vibrant musical landscape of theatrical melodies, crushing riffs, soaring leads and exemplary technical musicianship, Acolyte have now unveiled the music video for the title track ‘Entropy’, the opening to their forthcoming album. The single premiered on Triple J’s The Racket with Lochlan Watt last night, the longest song ever to be featured on the show.

The quintet have also announced that they have inked record deals with Blood Blast Distribution for digital sales and distribution, and Wild Thing Records for physical.

More info on the second album will be revealed in due course, but for now the band are marking their comeback with this particular oeuvre in hopes to reignite the flame that garnered the band such recognition from their debut.

The 10 minute opus is a statement composition that works to paint a vivid picture of the emotional battle Morgan-Leigh tells through her powerful, emotional and at times theatrical vocals.

Morgan-Leigh gives an initial insight to the overarching theme of the album and title track ‘Entropy’

“Entropy is a fully realised conceptual record exploring the early stages of ‘loss’. Presented like diary entries, the record ebbs and flows through an array of actions, feelings & emotions that are commonly experienced when trying to ground one’s self all while carrying the early weight of trauma. Our  album opener and title track ‘Entropy’ begins with the hard truth; a moment of disconnect and discovery. This song is written from the moment you learn about something that could turn your world upside down. How would you react? For me it features a whole array of emotions as I push and pull through the experience, not yet having all the information nor the time to adapt.”

Morgan’s personal musical interests lay in thick, heavy soundscapes and music with aggressive undertones which creates the perfect synergy between progressive rock and musical theatre.

“The way these  stories could be told with such pain, aggression, subtlety, melody, angst, torture, torment and tension… I loved it all”, continues Brown. Turning her attention to the band’s new material, she states: “This is the most vulnerable, relatable and passionately raw I have been artistically”

For the ‘Entropy’ music video, Acolyte worked with award winning director and cinematographer Gary Robertson from Jarrah Film in what the band calls “their most ambitious video yet” following the success of their award winning partnership in 2018.

About ACOLYTE

“I knew quite early on that I wanted to tell stories through song”, offers Acolyte vocalist Morgan-Leigh Brown. Joining the National Girls Choir at the age of 7, Brown would later be called upon to perform the National Anthem (acapella) and ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ at a sold out stadium event in Melbourne – at just fifteen years old. After a brief foray into the realm of musical theatre, Morgan-Leigh became a mainstay in the Melbourne music and theatre scene and has grown into a performer that is poised for huge success.

Acolyte’s extensive achievements are somewhat surprising for a band so early in their career.

With nominations for “Best Heavy Album” at the 2017 Age Music Awards (‘Shades of Black’), ‘Best Live Performance’ at the 2017 Oz Independent Music Awards and winning ‘Best Music Video’ at Oz International Film Festival in 2018, (‘Space & Time’ single release), Acolyte quickly captivated an army of passionate fans, allowing them to headline their own national tours and take on main support slots for Twelve Foot Ninja, Jericco, Sydonia, Leprous and Voyager.
