About John de Haan

I became hooked on live music way back in the mid-'70s when they used to have live bands at school dances. Nowadays my partner and I are at live concerts once or twice per week around Wollongong and it's northern suburbs as well as Sydney. I started taking photos a few years ago and found mixing dual passions for live music and photography extremely rewarding. My main passion is capturing musicians and connecting with them in their ‘moment’ through the lens. I enjoy all facets of live music photography from the small, intimate pub gigs to the bigger venues and festivals. Nothing feels better than when you nail that perfect shot or jump! When I'm not shooting live music you can usually find me down the beach at sunrise or sunset with the lens pointed in that direction.
