Morning Rain is the second single from Bad//Dreems’ third studio album, Doomsday Ballet – out October 18 via Farmer & The Owl. It follows the success of the blisteringly unapologetic first single Double Dreaming: “an absurdist portrait of wokeness, identity politics, white privilege and explosive visuals” – Triple J.

“I wanted to write something that sounded like Wire produced by James Murphy, with James Chance on sax” Alex Cameron (guitar).

One of the first songs written for the record, the demo for Morning Rain was the impetus for Jack Ladder to lend his production skills to Doomsday Ballet, alongside co-producer Burke Reid.  The track, recorded in the midst of an Adelaide heatwave at Twin Earth Studio and featuring Ladder on synth, opens the album with the brusque couplet: “People are stupid, people go round, fanning the flames while their houses burn down”.

Ben Marwe’s vocals suggest a character gripped by persecutory psychosis and delusions of grandeur.

“It is fever dream rant about the end of days, shadowed by a statement of defiance and resilience,” says Cameron.

“It feels like I’m leaving the table as the world disintegrates in the last wave of acid. Hard Rain. Take your ticket and wait in line to jump into the abyss” explains Marwe.

Doomsday Ballet is out Oct 18th, via Farmer and The Owl. Bad//Dreems hit the road for a national tour this October / November tickets are on sale now from  baddreems.com.
