It’s been a wild ride for Bag Raiders. Having met in High School during orchestra and choir practice, Chris and Jack would sneak out to smoke cigarettes and talk about electronic music. They swapped CDs and, after finishing school, linked up again and started playing around with computers and a synthesizer. Since starting Bag Raiders, they’ve gone from fooling around for fun to international superstars.
2020 marks an historic milestone for them: today, they celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of their debut eponymous LP, an album rooted in disco and classic synth-pop that immediately resonated with listeners across Australia and beyond. It successfully built upon the band’s already impressive reputation as one of Australia’s most sought-after electronic acts, well renowned for frequenting the legendary club scene in mid-2000s Sydney.
Bag Raiders debuted at number 7 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart, was nominated for Best Dance Release at the 2011 Aria Awards and was nominated for Australian Album of The Year at the triple j’s j awards. The key singles were very well received, too. ‘Shooting Stars’ came in at #19 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2009 and reached #38 on the ARIA charts; ‘Way Back Home’ came in at #46 in the Hottest 100 of 2010; ‘Sunlight’ received extensive airplay in Germany.
The album also reached #36 in the Top Albums Chart in Germany and, after ‘Shooting Stars’ re-emerged as a hit in 2017, it reached #11 on the Billboard Electronic charts and entered the charts in Austria, Germany, Canada and France.
Since release, the band have received 32 Platinum records, 7 Gold records, and have accumulated more than 3 billion streams, cementing their status as a truly global band who’ve reached heights that most only dream of.

Alongside the band (and album’s) broader achievements, no other track has become more synonymous with the meme culture boom of the mid-2010s than ‘Shooting Stars’. It’s instantly recognisable opening sequence has become an iconic touchpoint for young people across the world.
‘Shooting Stars’ made its first comeback post-album release in 2013, when it was covered on Australia’s Got Talent. The track subsequently re-entered the ARIA Singles chart at #38. In 2015, the track came in at #29 in Mix’s 100 Best Australian Dance Tracks of All Time, and in 2016 was featured in a viral tribute to Harambe the gorilla.
Despite all the above moments, it wasn’t until 2017 that ‘Shooting Stars’ really took off. A viral YouTube clip featuring the song catapulted the track into the stratosphere, and since then, it hasn’t looked back. It’s been featured in countless videos by superstars like Katy Perry, Will Smith, Lady Gaga and more, and entered charts across the globe. The international success of ‘Shooting Stars’ is testament to the power of young people’s listening habits and the internet, even before the boom of TikTok.

From the band:
“Back when we first started out, we were fooling around in a garden shed in Rose Bay purely for the fun and craft of creating music. We never would have dreamed that we’d be able to take what we were doing, turn it into something real and play these songs all around the world a dozen times over.
I guess that initial spark of joy; creating something from nothing and seeing how that made people react really resonated with us, especially in the legendary, sweaty clubs of Sydney in the mid-2000’s when the city’s resting heartbeat was 128BPM! Without this incredible scene and those amazing friendships, we might not be where we are today. Hold tight Sydney, the glory days will return!
Music has always been such a massive part of our lives and to see the constant and countless messages, people going in hard at shows/festivals, copping our merch (or making their own), telling us to ‘Come to Brazil’, it’s crazy overwhelming but honestly the greatest gift that anyone could ever ask for!
We’re forever indebted to our fans from day one, our community, our crews, our friends + families for the opportunity to do something we could only ever hold as a pipe dream. We hope in the future that we can give something special back to you all, because you all deserve it.
It’s been a hell of a long road of highs and lows, so thank you for the love and thank you for listening.
Jack & Chris”

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
