In a world where the word “delay” is all too common, Ball Park Music have instead decided to embrace an unforeseen glitch in the manufacturing of the vinyl version of their new album ‘Weirder & Weirder’ and will release the highly anticipated long player one week early on Friday 27th May.
Quality vinyl pressings often come from Europe and due to ongoing supply issues relating to the war in Ukraine, there will be a short delay on the arrival of the band’s vinyl stocks. But to ensure Ball Park Music fans have every opportunity to hear their epic new album ‘Weirder & Weirder’ ahead of their first national tour in four years, the album will be available via streaming services, CD and digital download on 27th May for all to enjoy.
Frontman Sam Cromack said: “We spent more than a year pouring our heart and soul into this record and we are beyond excited for everyone to hear it. After more than two years of our industry suffering non-stop setbacks, we’ve decided to give this situation the middle finger and run in the other direction. To honour all our beautiful listeners, we have made the decision to pull the release of Weirder & Weirder forward. Our highest priority is getting this new record to our fans and hitting the road in June to celebrate the only thing that has ever mattered – the music.”
The vinyl version of ‘Weirder & Weirder’ is expected to land in Australia by early July and all fans who pre-ordered the vinyl will go in the running to win a signed test pressing of the album. Ball Park had these sent to them about a month ago and they’d love for at least one lucky person to be hearing it on vinyl as soon as possible.
Last week the third taste of ‘Weirder & Weirder’ was revealed with album opener ‘Manny’ receiving it’s first spin on triple j’s Good Nights with Bridget Hustwaite. The big drums, fuzzed guitar, 60’s psychedelic track shows the band experimenting with new gear and sounds, creating a song that sets up the ‘Weirder & Weirder’ album journey perfectly. It’s only three weeks until Ball Park Music kick off their first national tour in four years with the ‘Weirder & Weirder’ Tour starting with a hometown show at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on 3rd June. The tour will be heading to all capital cities as well as Wollongong, Newcastle, Cairns and Sunshine Coast.
Melbourne band RAT!hammock will be joining the band for all shows with Adelaide duo Teenage Joans and Darwin outfit King Stingray sharing support duties. For one glorious night in Sydney, Friday 17th June, the entire four-band line up will rock out the Hordern Pavilion. Tickets for all shows are on sale now.
“We are so excited to have King Stingray, Teenage Joans and Rat!Hammock joining us on this tour. We’ve been admiring their music from afar for a while now, we can’t wait to share a stage with them on what’s going to be one hell of a tour. Whilst we’ve jumped at every live opportunity that’s presented itself to us over the last couple of years, there is nothing like headlining your own tour. We’ve missed that shared experience of live shows with the fans, and we can’t wait to do that again…with a few new tunes in tow!” Ball Park said on the tour announcement.
Since the release of the band’s critically acclaimed debut ‘Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs’, Ball Park Music have secured no less than five consecutive Top 10 ARIA Album Chart debuts. ‘Weirder & Weirder’ will only further help cement BPM as one of Australia’s favourite bands. The album, once again, was recorded and produced by the band in their Brisbane studio (Prawn Records) and mixed by 5x ARIA Award winner Paul McKercher.
With ‘Weirder & Weirder’ now available one week early on 27th May 2022, fans can still secure some great merch bundles on pre-order. Check out the full range of ‘Weirder & Weirder’ bundles HERE

AMNPLIFY – KS
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
