Bursting onto the scene in 2010, UK four-piece Bastille have become one of the most instantly recognisable and unstoppable pop forces in British music today, with their highly anticipated third album on its way. Frontier Touring is delighted to announce that Bastille will perform two intimate headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne this September – their first Australian dates in four years – with special guest Nicole Millar.

Having conquered airwaves and sold over 10 million albums worldwide, the ‘Of The Night’outfit – led by frontman Dan Smith, alongside keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist/guitarist Will Farquarson and drummer Chris Wood – dominated stages with their heady mix of RnB, EDM, rock and pop. Just last week they dropped epic new single ‘Quarter Past Midnight – an escapist anthem, its breakbeats and drum fills loosely inspired by ‘90s dance music, its euphoric hook unmistakably Bastille.

The four-piece’s debut album, 2013’s Bad Blood, landed immediate traction with fans, shifting over a quarter of a million units in their homeland alone thanks to the multi-platinum mega-hit ‘Pompeii’ (463m+ YouTube views) and singles ‘Flaws’ and ‘Laura Palmer’. 2016’s Wild World continued the trend, giving the band a #1 album debut in the UK with tracks such as ‘Good Grief’ and taking them from quintessential alternative popsters to festival favourites in just a few years.

It’s been a busy few months for Bastille, who’ve played over 500 shows across six continents in their career. Premiered by BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, ‘Quarter Past Midnight’ was recorded and self-produced in Bastille’s newly built London studio, “an old porn studio that we turned into a place that could be ours,” describes Smith. The building also housing his record label Best Laid Plans (home to Rag N’Bone Man, Rationale). “It’s just about trying to capture that Sliding Doors moment on a night out. Some people are gonna go home; for some this is just the beginning. It became about being in someone’s car, driving through the city, and I wanted to try and capture that sense of excitement, and that rush.”

Last November saw the release of Bastille’s ‘World Gone Mad’, lifted from the Netflix film Bright starring Will Smith, as well as a collaboration on Craig David’s ‘I Know You’. The band recently wrapped UK shows on their ReOrchestrated tour, where they performed with an orchestra and choir reworking fan classics.

‘Drawing things to a close with the seductively-dark ‘Bad Blood’ as the penultimate track, the show came to an uplifting conclusion with ’Weight of Living, Pt. 1’, at which point everyone in the Royal Albert Hall joyfully bathed in the weight and glory of Bastille’s lyrical mastery.’ The Independent

‘Bastille operate within the same kind of anthemic modern pop rock parameters as Coldplay and Keane…’ The Telegraph UK

‘Brave, brilliant and a bit bonkers, Bastille Reorchestrated was the sound of a band breaking down barriers and pushing out of their comfort zone.’ The Standard UK

‘Bastille sounded magnificent as it rocked through a 20-plus-song set at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, recalling such solid acts as Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Travis and Franz Ferdinand.’ Mercury News

Joining Bastille at their Australian shows will be burgeoning pop sensation Nicole Millar. After early collaborations with Cosmo’s Midnight and Golden Features, it was Millar’s contribution to Peking Duk’s 2014 triple-platinum smash ‘High’ that truly launched her into the spotlight. ‘High’ reached #2 in triple j’s Hottest 100, and the Canadian-born, Sydney-raised singer followed this success with two excellent EPs in 2016. Featuring singles ‘Gimme A Break’ and ‘Blindfolded’, Millar’s debut album Excuse Me will be released on June 1st through EMI. These shows will be the perfect opportunity to catch her edgy pop songs in the flesh!

Don’t delay in grabbing your tickets – with two shows only, Bastille are not to be missed!
