After a whirlwind 12 months which saw them earn accolades from tastemakers like Zane Lowe, BBC Radio 1, NME and Rolling Stone, bby release their hotly-anticipated debut album 1, alongside their catchy-as-hell breakout hit, ‘Kinky’.
‘Kinky’ follows on from bby’s recent guitar-laden songs ‘kill me’, ‘Breathe’ and ‘Fucked Up’ and is the fourth single from their upcoming debut album. Simply titled 1, the much-hyped record brings together all the core elements of bby’s raw and emotional sound with their real-life experience creating a community in London’s East End, centred around their ‘hangs’ where fans are invited to become a part of their story through their songs and a live music experience like nothing else. There’s no better example of this than their immersive music videos, using the band studio’s doorbell ring camera, CCTV and body-cam footage of the band and their fans going full-tilt.
Speaking about the album, lead singer Benjy said “1’ is about the beginning and end of a relationship, but the heart of it is the hangs. Playing these songs for the day 1s at the HQ: sweating, moshing, drinking, dancing and figuring them all out live. Playing a hundred different versions until they hit just right. Playing a hundred different jams until we got 13 songs that tell the story we wanna tell and move the room how we wanna move it. We all met online about 1 year ago, started the hangs about 6 months ago, and now dropping our first album. This is where it starts. We made it out the group chat.”
After meeting on the internet over a shared love of music, bby emerged seemingly out of nowhere in 2023 with the release of ‘hotline’, which saw them play to a packed crowd at Leeds Festival, perform at the coveted BBC Maida Vale Sessions, named ‘Introducing Track of the Week’ on BBC Radio 1 and chart in the Top 25 on the USA Alt Radio chart.
Earlier this year, bby were named an NME 2024 Breakout Act and given a nod in Zane Lowe’s 24 for 2024 Tip List. Since then, the band have continued to build up a steady fan-base through the release of culturally on-point songs like ‘money body’, ‘gold teeth & fenty’, ‘u come near’, ‘kill me’ and ‘Breathe’ while creating their own cult-like scene via their insanely popular house party ‘hangs’ at their East London HQ. The chaos they create at these shows is tangible and has fans flocking to them, which in turn informs the music bby make: the fans, the space, the sweat, the vibe, the music – it all comes together as one.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
