Following the announcement that their third EP “FOLLY” will be released on Friday 6 June, Brisbane based trio Bean Magazine have today shared their new single “Ashamed That You Hate It” via Purple Phase / Warner Music Australia.

Listen HERE

The mellow 90’s influenced indie-rock track reflects on being disappointed by someone’s reaction to something.

“Those close are often the harshest critics (they are also the biggest supporters). Essentially I showed someone dear to me our first properly recorded music and I could just tell it wasn’t for them. Which is fine. That honesty in the moment cut, and will live on as a vivid memory. Deep down all I wanted was complete affirmation. This song is like a sarcastic dig at that. It’s fun to poke at at entitlement especially your own”  lead singer Henry Creamer explains of the song.

Taken from their upcoming EP “FOLLY”, “Ashamed That You Hate It” joins the recently released singlesShare YouandFree As Hell, as well as four new songs. On this EP they take a sun-soaked look at knowing yourself (and your flaws) a bit better than before, turning frustrations into thrashing guitar lines and frenetic sing-a-longs, alongside gentler, overcast moments of self-reflection and acceptance. “The EP is about being a fool and having a bit of a laugh at yourself” says Creamer. It’s an ode to stepping back and not taking yourself too seriously — especially when your mind is crowded with self-defeatist thoughts. Pre-save HERE.

Last weekend Bean Magazine kicked off a mammoth 28-date national tour with Brisbane royalty Ball Park Music in Tasmania. The extensive tour will see them hitting Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory, and New South Wales through May to July. All tour details available HERE.

Produced by Sam Cromack from Ball Park Music, last year’s EP “In The Shade” featured the singlesOld Or Young”, “Chicken”, “Nobody Wore Shoes”, “FIREandDon’t You Die. This upcoming tour with Ball Park Music feels like a pure celebration of all the hard work Bean Magazine have been doing with Sam behind the scenes and acts as a showcase for “FOLLY” which they have reunited with Sam for.

Henry Creamer (guitars and vocals), Gabrielle Beiers (drums) and Seb Baren (bass) effortlessly blend punk energy, sensitive lyrical sensibilities and classic rock riffs to create songs that will never leave your head. 2024 saw them hitting the road supporting The Rubens, Hockey Dad and Rum Jungle on their respective tours, as well as performing at BIGSOUND and SXSW Sydney.
