Throwing us under the mirrors and lights of an anxious club dance floor, new single ‘EYES WIDE’ from Bec Sandridge warps the pop textbook into something more knotted and metallic, with a jolt of defiance.
‘EYES WIDE’ captures a lonely paranoia that is dramatically inescapable. Sandridge celebrates the scars that we cannot “unstick“ by examining the self inflicted hurt of a wounded relationship “Can we unstick a scar / When I tried to well you just stood and blamed me / I’ve got plenty of heart / But is there limit to us? “
Produced by Oscar Dawson and Gab Strum (Japanese Wallpaper), ‘EYES WIDE’ sonically nods to Sandridge’s favourite bands from the late 70’s-80’s and now (Sousiex + The Banshees, Fleetwood Mac + Robyn), with her trademark one-note angular guitar lines, hard-hitting high hats on loop and ethereal new-wave chimes.
Of the track, Sandridge states “I began to question my relationship patterns during the recording process. I started asking myself is my behaviour instinctual, a long ingrained habit or based on self preservation and protection? The song looks at me discovering my own emotional boundaries and limitations.”
‘EYES WIDE’ looks into the fear and anxiety of being abandoned (both on the dance floor and in a relationship) and as a result, striving to be independent. Although Sandridge is unsure of her decisions to enter into relationships, she has never sounded more sure of herself as an artist. ‘EYES WIDE’ radiates reassurance.
Coupled with the release of ‘EYES WIDE’ Sandridge has today announced tour dates for Melbourne and Sydney.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
