New Zealand’s young musical visionary BENEE has just unveiled the otherworldly video for her single “Glitter”. BENEE who now holds a captivated audience of over 1.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify has today also just been announced on the massive St Jerome’s Laneway Festival line up for 2020. She is set to perform alongside the likes of Charlie XCX, Earl Sweatshirt, Ruel, Stella Donnelly & DMA’s this Summer. Her Australian east coast headline tour kicks off at the end of November with her Brisbane and Sydney shows already sold out and with only a handful of tickets remaining for Melbourne at Max Watts on Friday November 29.

In the animated ‘Glitter’ video BENEE turns her kaleidoscopic daydreams into reality and takes us on a journey into an animated, outer space realm alongside her fuzzy monster sidekick. The clip was made in collaboration with LA based director / illustrator / Mouldy Peaches bassist Steven Mertens who has also directed music videos for artists among the likes of Regina Spektor, Dan Auerbach, The Chainsmokers and Lil Peep.

Of the video, BENEE says, “Collaborating with Steven on a fun space monster video was a perfect example of the Beneevision in full flow”

Director Steven Mertens chimes in saying, “The process of coming up with a treatment flowed very easily, as I envisioned an animated dream world for BENEE to inhabit along with a monster sidekick and as many bizarre characters as I could cram into the span of three minutes. My goal with the video was to use many techniques to give it a unique feel. Our alien forest was created using a combination of live action, stop motion, CGI, photo collage, coloured pencil drawings, rear projections and amazing felt sculptures made by Jack Reed.”

In early 2019, BENEE went from playing her first small club gig in her hometown of Auckland to her first arena show—opening for long-time role model Lily Allen in a matter of months. Over the past twelve months, she has performed at Laneway Festival NZ and sold out her debut headline shows in Australia.

In July 2019 she released her debut EP FIRE ON MARZZ. Spanning six tracks, the EP includes huge viral hits Evil Spider (triple j most played) and her platinum-selling smash hit of the summer Soaked, which has so far received over 50 million streams and landed at  #58 in triple j’s Hottest 100, 2018.

With her international break-out single ‘Soaked’, BENEE has been named an “artist to watch” by many and has become a globe-trotting force, taking her live show back and forth to the northern hemisphere in including Amsterdam, London, Berlin, New York City and Los Angeles. With endorsements from Zane Lowe and Apple’s Beats1 radio, ‘Soaked’ is now certified Gold in Australia. Back home in New Zealand the track is now certified Platinum and held the #1 spot on the Shazam Top 100 for 2 months.

BENEE who has also just been announced as a top five finalist for the 2019 APRA Silver Scroll Award, recognising excellence in song writing, returns to Australia in October to perform alongside the hottest line-up of the most exciting global acts right now girl in red, Tove Lo, Tones And I and Electric Fields at Spotify’s Front Left event to be held in Melbourne next month. At the end of November BENEE will then embark on her own Australian east headline shows.
