New Zealand music icon Bic Runga is bringing her upcoming Acoustic tour to Australia this August 2023, celebrating the 20-year anniversary since the release of her eleven-time platinum, best-selling album BEAUTIFUL COLLISION presented by Select Music and August Avenue.
The tour kicks off in Sydney at Marrickville’s Great Club on Saturday, August 12th, before heading to Newcastle’s Lizottes on Sunday, August 13th, Brisbane’s Old Museum on Thursday, August 17th and performing with a full band at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Friday, August 18th.
“Beautiful Collision was my favourite album to make, and it still means a lot to me after twenty years,” says Bic. “I hope that if these songs hold a special place for anyone, they will enjoy celebrating the anniversary of this album with me as a complete concert performance.”
Since the release of her first single, “Drive”, in 1996, Bic Runga (Ngāti Kahungunu, Rongomaiwahine) has been awarded almost every musical honour in New Zealand, including the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll Songwriting Award. Bic has won the most Tui Awards (New Zealand Music Awards) by any individual (twenty). She has won Best Female Vocalist four times and Best Producer three times.
Bic’s debut album DRIVE was certified seven times platinum and featured the enormous hit “Sway”.
The follow-up, BEAUTIFUL COLLISION, in 2002, was certified an incredible eleven times platinum and featured the hits “Get Some Sleep”, “Something Good”, and “Listening For The Weather”. A live album with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra followed BEAUTIFUL COLLISION. This album included beautiful orchestral versions of all her hits and a recording of the classic Jacques Brel song “Ne Me Quitte Pas”, which was an early indicator of Bic’s next move to relocate to Paris. Paris Life resulted in the more cinematic BIRDS album in 2005, which also won Album Of The Year and featured the hit “Winning Arrow”.
Her songs have been featured in film soundtracks (American Pie), her records have been released around the world, and she has won loyal followings in Europe, Asia, and North America.
In January 2006, Runga was made a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Zealand New Year’s Honors List. In 2016, she received the Legacy Award at the New Zealand Music Awards and was inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
