BILLIE EILISH, DREAM WIFE & SHAME ANNOUNCE LANEWAY FESTIVAL SIDESHOWS

Billie Eilish, Dream Wife and Shame are excited to share details of their Laneway Festival sideshows. Read on for details.

Tickets for all shows are on sale Thursday 26th of October, 10am local time.

BILLIE EILISH

“Billie Eilish is the future, literally” – NYLON Magazine

Pop’s Next It Girl” – VOGUE Magazine

“One of pop’s most promising talents” – i-D

LA’s new teen queen is BILLIE EILISH. An unfairly talented teenager with a startlingly mature outlook and irresistible voice, Bille’s meteoric rise began in 2015 when she uploaded ‘Ocean Eyes’ to SoundCloud. She instantly became a veritable phenomenon: an international record deal, over 90 million cumulative streams, global praise from Vogue, Interview Magazine and Elle Magazine (and the list goes on). The recent release of her debut ep dontsmileatme sees her star continue to ascend, with props including a spot in Apple’s Up Next campaign and a show-stopping performance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

At 16 years old, Bille will be the youngest member of the Laneway touring party since Lorde’s unforgettable run in 2014. Not unlike Lorde herself, Billie has an undeniable talent for pop songwriting, an impervious sense of self, and inimitable style. Her first Australian tour sold out in half a day last month and these shows will be hot tickets. Don’t miss them.

DREAM WIFE

“Icelandic-Brightonian three-piece with the attitude of New York punks and pizazz of disco queens.” – The Guardian

“Dream Wife fuse endless charisma with serrated punk-pop riffs…” – The Line of Best Fit

“…one of the most exciting young groups in the country.” – London In Stereo

UK/Icelandic three piece DREAM WIFE are heading to Australia for the very first time.

Rakel Mjöll (lead vocals), Alice Go (guitar and vocals) and Bella Podpadec (bass and vocals) met at an art school in Brighton formed as a performance art project within the uni grounds. Oozing girl power, their music juxtaposes simple pop hooks, cutting riffs and screamy-dreamy vocals, nodding to the Strokes and Blondie, but in a far grittier and contemporary way.

The band released their debut EP last year and quickly become one of the most talked about bands in the UK, garnering strong support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music and Apple Music Beats1, as well as the likes of i-D, Dazed & Confused, The Guardian, DIY, Muzikexpress, Elle, KEXP and The FADER.

Supported by the British Council.

SHAME

“One of South-London’s finest new bands…” – NME

“A fresh take on the guitar music template, Shame are a politically charged full frontal attack.”- CLASH

“Shame is a UK band with the fury of all the best punk bands that ever were.” – NPR

Shame are one of London’s best new bands. Formed by five 19 year-old school friends, the band first broke out from their local DIY scene via word-of-mouth and have been hailed for their show-stopping live presence.

Shame were invited to play at Pitchfork Paris before they had released a single song, and have since appeared at Glastonbury and all across the UK. The band were an undeniable standout at this year’s SXSW Conference, which earned them a label deal with US label Dead Oceans, and an abundance of industry praise.

Shame’s debut single ‘The Lick’ comes with a rumbling, frenetic bassline and razor-sharp wit. Follow-up single ’Tasteless’ was doubled up with ‘Visa Vulture’, a vicious indictment of Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May, disguised as an indie love song. Their most recent offering ‘Concrete’ is just as fierce.

Politically-charged and uncompromising in their ethos, Shame are experts in the art of not-giving-a-fuck.
