Blanco White has enchanted us once more with the release of his new single “Desert Days” set to be released through Yucatan Records on Friday the 25th of October, 2019. The track puts White’s worldly knowledge on display, with beautiful lyrical complexities and a soft anthemic musical underscore that is transportive in nature. This track certainly solidifies White’s place as an indie-folk extraordinaire, as he expands on his usual sound, a blending of Andalusian and Latin influences, by adding an all-new flavour.

Talking about “Desert Days“, White explains, “The track has a slightly different swing to anything I’ve written before. It’s an Andean rhythm, played on charango and ronroco, but the harmonies are more bluesy. I’ve been listening to more blues-based music from both sides of the Sahara recently and I think that influence has come through on the album.”

Blanco White’s sound has always been notably unique, and his experiment with new genres proves that his talents are limitless and dynamic.

“Desert Days” comes off the back of White’s ethereal single “Papillon”, released in September of this year, inspired by Henri Charriere’s book of the same title; the story taking place in an area surrounded by water; inspiring the track’s shimmering, rippling feeling. White’s ability to capture this level of attention to detail is a pure (and literal) reflection of the genius of his music and carries through in all his work. White’s other single and self-titled album to drop in 2020, “On the Other Side”, premiered exclusively via Clash Magazine in July of this year.

The track’s accompanying music video is a visual masterpiece, that perfectly complements the tranquil properties of the single and Blanco White’s personal and musical journey.

Blanco White is the solo project of Londoner Josh Edwards, originating in 2014. After studying guitar in Cádiz (Spain), and later the Andean instrument the charango in Sucre (Bolivia), Edwards’ aim was to begin bringing together elements of Andalusian and Latin American music alongside influences closer to home. The result is beyond exotic and otherworldly.

Releasing his self-produced debut EP “The Wind Rose” on Yucatan Records in early 2016, he later recorded his second EP “Colder Heavens” that same year with producer Ian Grimble (Bear’s Den, Matt Corby, Daughter), and released it last spring to critical delight. The NocturneEP was released on the 29th September 2018. His 2017 single “El Búho” off “Colder Heavens” was premiered via Wonderland Magazine, describing his music style as “infused with exotic flair and experimentation”
