Queensland singer/songwriter, recording artist and multi-instrumentalist, Mitch King, is set to release his brand-new independent single, Big Bright Moon, available for airplay and pre-save now and out on July 26, as he hits the road for a stack of shows across Queensland and New South Wales.
Big Bright Moon was produced with Blake Malone, who captured the essence of the one-man band that is Mitch King, and how the song is played live with the clarity of the studio and his producer’s icing.
“Big Bright Moon was a really fun song to write and record. I think it’s quite different to anything I’ve written before,” says King. “I’ve based the song around an Egyptian/Middle Eastern scale with an uncommon time signature, which made the songwriting process both challenging and exciting. Big Bright Moon reminds us how the moon can push and pull on people’s emotions like the ocean tides, and how it can make you feel wired.”

The new single is the first offering of many soon-to-be recorded songs to come out of the comfort of King’s home studio. He says, “I believe it has positively influenced the recording. I hope you enjoy this one – we enjoyed creating it.” Highly regarded for his evocative, raw and dynamic live performances, Mitch King combines electric and acoustic guitars, harmonica, kick and snare drums plus tambourine. His distinctive Southern blues and Australian roots and folk music is a sweet mixture of inventive, electrified and acoustic music. Due to hit the road from late July, fans can catch King on his Big Bright Moon Tour in support of the new single.
