One of Australia’s most eclectic artists, Bootleg Rascal, return today with sweeping new single ‘All About You’ featuring Saint Lane – produced by the band themselves and mixed by Ian Pritchett (Boo Seeka, Kim Churchill, Angus and Julia Stone). The track also features a striking video to boot – directed and shot on the picturesque Gold Coast, Queensland by Rhys Bennett (Polish Club, Kingswood, Totally Unicorn).
On ‘All About You’, reverb-soaked guitar rings out amid gentle brushes of percussion, as subtle synths fleetingly flicker. Building with resolute kick drum and the sultry vocals of frontman Carlos Lara, the song rolls seamlessly into the crescendo; largely accentuated by its intricately syncopated bass line. In the bridge, Saint Lane’s impassioned cadences meld effortlessly, before the hook-laden chorus concludes the arrangement, weaving together its rich sonic tapestries.
“’All About You’ is the first Bootleg Rascal song entirely produced by Jim and myself. As we’ve spent more time off the road than ever before, we’ve shifted our attention to being more hands on in the studio,” says Lara.
“The song itself is about love in the modern era, and how technology plays an integral role into shaping our behaviours and the way we interact with one another.” he continues.
Gold Coast-based New Zealand born rapper Saint Lane burst onto the scene in 2019, picking up praise from the likes of triple j, The Needle Drop, NME, The Guardian, GQ, Billboard and Beats 1 with Briggs. He’s also traversed the country, sharing stages with Lime Cordiale, JID and Bootleg Rascal.
Bootleg Rascal first formed in 2013. Since their birth, the group have regularly released critically-praised and fan adored music that has yielded them a career spanning close to ten years. They’re a mainstay on the Australian and New Zealand live scene, and have also sold-out multiple shows around the globe.
