Dance-rock purveyors and beer-barons-for-charity The Dollar Bill Murrays are once again making tail feathers shake with their latest groove-heavy earworm “ The Shape You Take ”, with an accompanying limited edition 7” vinyl release and East Coast tour kicking off the last day of May.

The second release since their sophomore EP ‘Always On’ in April 2017, following on from playful single “Dancing with Death”, the Brisbane quartet are back with a bass-heavy number that’s packed to the brim with their signature jagged and overdriven guitars and layers upon layers of irresistible percussion – produced by Brock Weston (Bugs) at Bedlam
Studios and mastered by Tyson Ruth at Studio Truth. With winter fast approaching, The Dollar Bill Murrays’ new track is the perfect house party playlist icebreaker to heat things up. The song is all about connection, but it’s not what’s said – rather it’s the unspoken body language, it’s “The Shape You Take”. The theme of the new single came about in singer Felix Lindgren’s living room as his mind wandered during a passionate argument.
“It wasn’t just what we were saying, but how we were moving – the energy we were expressing, and the shape we were taking that was important and captured the true motives of both of us at the time. ‘The Shape You Take’ is people’s inner thoughts – what they mean and what they want,” says Lindgren.
A busy 2017 saw the 4-piece sign with Brisbane boutique label Valley Heat Records for a series of special, short-run physical releases, support several established acts including The Delta Riggs and brew their own award-winning lager – Bill F. Murray Malt Liquor – with All Inn Brewing Co.
Pre-orders are now open for a special 7” vinyl release for the new single, made possible by the band’s ongoing collaboration with Valley Heat Records.”Every recording that The Dollar Bill Murrays have released since their inception has grown in maturity, complexity and downright dance-ability. When we heard ‘The Shape You Take’ we knew it was a tune that had to be on wax – not only for fans but for DJs who want to kick their sets up a notch,” says Valley Heat Records founder John Russell.
The quartet will soon take their new grungy dance-rock gems along the east coast (upcoming tour dates below) after touring from December 2017 to February 2018 in support of their previous single “Dancing with Death”, which was added to Triple J Unearthed rotation and praised across Australia and the international rock community for its infectious
rhythms and playful-yet-powerful guitar refrains.
