CALIGULA’S HORSE
Announces
‘In Contact’ AUSTRALIAN TOUR SEPT/OCT 2017
+ Special Guest
I BUILT THE SKY
.
Caligula’s Horse, a band at the forefront of Australia’s progressive rock scene, will hit the road for a national tour over September and October in support of their new album In Contact, to be released on September 15 through Inside Out Music.
The band are pleased to announce that Melbourne progressive instrumental project, I Built The Sky will join them on the tour as their special guests. I Built The Sky is the work of one man Rohan ‘Ro’ Stevenson who released his second album under the IBTS name in October 2016 titled The Sky Is Not The Limit and quickly gained the support of media in Australia and around the world.
After four years as a studio project, I Built The Sky was finally taken to the stage in 2015 supporting Plini before playing a string of big shows in 2016 including; Between The Buried And Me / CHON, a co-headline tour with James Norbert Ivanyi, a performance at Melbourne Guitar Show Main Stage and the opening slot on Ne Obliviscaris most recent tour with German prog masters The Ocean.
In 2017 I Built The Sky took things to the next level by undertaking a successful national headlining tour of Australia, the tour showcased brand new songs with an impressive lineup of musicians including
Rob Brens (Hadal Maw), Sam Tan (Artinem) and Stephen Taranto (The Helix Nebula).
With praise such as ‘one of the great instrumental rock/metal records of our time“ from Heavy Music Magazine and “outstanding album from a guy who can play guitar better than you ever will” from My Indie Australia, I Built The Sky will be an absolute treat for audiences across the nation as the appetiser to the main course of Caligula’s Horse.

Hailing from Brisbane, Caligula’s Horse is a progressive alternative rock powerhouse. Their unique tapestry of progressive metal laced with raw rock power is at once fluid, monumental, and striking, offering a wide audience a broad palate of unforgettable moments and timeless music.
Their fourth record, In Contact, is an immense conceptual work discussing the nature of art and creativity, a celebration of what connects us as human beings – the shared space across our many differences. Told over four separate chapters, it is an album full of deeply personal stories, characters with their own bittersweet hope and tragedy. This album is yet another leap forward for Caligula’s Horse – steeped in their now-signature ambitious and colourful sound but with a new-found ferocity, In Contact will leave audiences breathless.
In Contact stretched all of the band’s abilities, from the frantic speed and complexity of ‘Will’s Song (Let the Colours Run)’ to the immense scope and variety of the 16-minute album closer, ‘Graves’.
This is Caligula’s Horse at their most ambitious and progressive.
The band recently returned from Europe, where their impressive run of shows included support slots with Opeth, Anathema and Pain Of Salvation, UK headline shows and festival appearances at
Midsummer Prog Festival in the Netherlands and Be Prog! My Friend Festival in Spain.
Caligula’s Horse are an Australian music treasure, and on their way to becoming one of the world’s leading rock acts.
These will be the only Australian headline shows for Caligula’s Horse in 2017. After selling out most of their Australian shows in 2016, this tour is very likely to do the same.
Move fast and secure your tickets now or you’ll be sure to miss one of the most potent progressive music shows of the year!
