Chilled Out ‘n’ Fired Up
Music Festival
“Soothe your soul with South Australian live music,
and camp under the stars while raising mental health awareness”

Caltowie Chilled Out ‘n’ Fired Up is a one-of-a-kind music gathering in rural South Australia. The inaugural festival in 2019 was a total sell out, and highly praised by all event goers. The 2021 festival is scheduled for Saturday 27th March with headliner Adelaide’s own 5-piece rock band, Venice Queens supported by Gold Coast-based party starters Bootleg Rascal, and Victoria’s indi-rockers Loose Bricks plus another nine independent SA artists.
This year feels even more special than previous as we proudly boast 10 South Australian independent artists on the line-up. “We all know 2020 was a devastating year for the music industry. From our original inception we have always wanted to showcase local talent, even though we have introduced two interstate acts, we feel blessed to be able to offer a platform for all Australian music” – Ben VanBoekel, Event Organiser
Caltowie Chilled Out ‘n’ Fired Up Music Festival is also a mental health awareness event aimed at removing the stigma towards mental health and encouraging men and women to reach out when they are not ok. This local region has experienced numerous suicides in recent years motivating community members to become advocates for mental health awareness who are working towards lifting the stigma associated with it.

“Back in 2019, our local region lost three people to suicide in a matter of weeks. Two of them sadly were close friends. It is heartbreaking to think they thought suicide was their only option. That they thought they were so alone. If they could only see how many people came to say goodbye at their funeral, how many people truly loved them, and the hole they left in everyone’s hearts and lives… It might have made a difference” – Ben VanBoekel, Event Organiser
This year, special guests, survivalist and stunt woman, Ky Furneaux and mindset coach from the Empowered Men Movement, Toni Versic will also front the live stage to open up the conversation around anxiety by confronting fears and challenges we all face in everyday life.
The event not only supports rural families through tough times on the land but supports local towns, businesses and local artists. “We aim to bring quality music to rural regions that don’t always have the opportunity to experience live entertainment. Free camping is offered to attendees to ensure they can enjoy the whole event from start to finish” – Ben VanBoekel, Event Organiser.
This highly anticipated Music Festival is one of a kind north of Adelaide with the official announcement reaching over 25,000 people on Facebook. The event will also cater with a variety of SA craft beer, wine and cider, BBQ Smoked Meats and Pizza + more.

About Caltowie Chilled Out ‘n’ Fired Up Festival
The inaugural Caltowie Chilled Up and Fired Up Music Festival was held on Saturday September 21st 2019, at the Caltowie Oval. Our primary goal is to raise funds for mental health initiatives within our local region whilst promoting awareness for mental health and wellbeing. The focus and drive of our vision is to unite the community in support of mental health to reduce the stigma associated with discussing depression, anxiety and suicide. Essentially, we promote that it is not ok to be ok, and that someone is always there to listen. Depression, anxiety and suicide among rural communities is tragically on the rise, and particularly in a post Covid-19 world the importance to remain connected to each other and the community is paramount. This is why the Caltowie Chilled Out and Fired Up Music Festival, supported by the Jamestown Apex Club, are an active supporter of mental health within the Southern Flinders Ranges.
The 2019 event raised $25,000 for the region, sold 850 tickets and was enjoyed by over 750 attendees in damp conditions. With the money raised Jamestown Apex Club has sponsored ‘Despite the Dust’, an event held in Orroroo to bring mental health relief during the drought, and a charter bus to Adelaide was provided for members of our community to attend a free Men’s mental health workshop. Monetary donations were also provided for Beyond Blue and the Black Dog Institute. Now in the works we are partnering with the Jamestown Community School to sponsor a mental health and wellbeing curriculum program across all year levels, to be delivered throughout the school year and beginning in the 2021 school year. This is our most exciting project yet, as we believe by helping children improve their lives the lessons and benefits taught will radiate out into the community. It is these projects that we hope will be on-going to deliver real change and benefit throughout our region.
Additionally, this event aims to attract travellers to the region, as well as providing a new event for the community to engage in and be proud of. Attendees can enjoy notable entertainment in the beautifully unique and rural setting of Caltowie, South Australia, while providing a boost for local businesses in neighbouring towns with travellers utilising accommodation and other services during their stay. The event aims to create a unique gathering of musicians while offering a broad range of delicious South Australian food and craft beverages. A real gourmet melting pot in a Covid-safe environment, all in the name of mental health.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
