Following two colossal performances at Bigsound this week, Caroline & Claude share their hypnotic and breezy new single Dreams, alongside the visual accompaniment via The Orchard. The duo have also announced headline shows at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay on September 15 and Nth Gong in Wollongong on October 3, and will take the stage at NYE on the Hill, Forth Pub 150 and Factory Festival this December.
Mixed by Oscar Dawson and mastered by Leon Zervos, Dreams features Caroline & Claude’s beguiling songwriting and their signature vintage pop flare. “Dreams started as a guitar track with a beachy vibe, influenced by the likes of Hether and Hers. First produced by Claude, we then wrote the melancholy melody and lyrics over the instrumental. We wanted to include lots of reverb and harmonies to add that dream-like dimension. Once the chorus hits, we wanted the listener to think ‘oh damn! this hits kinda deeper than their other stuff!’, showing a more transparent side of Caroline & Claude,” says Caroline of the single.
The self-directed whimsical music video captures Caroline & Claude on the moody shores of Long Reef Beach. “We made the Dreams video with our friends – Annika, Leo and Sam! We filmed it on Super 8 which was exciting and fun to do and very different to our usual digital camcorder video. Dreams is contradictory to our other music videos, it’s more artistic and melancholy,” explains Claude.
The song follows on from the disarming and charming IDK YOU, the ruthlessly catchy it’s not that bad, and their acid-tongued debut Stir The Pot. Since their inception, support and critical acclaim has followed, with full additions to triple j, over 400 spins on US College radio, airplay on BBC1 Radio, and coverage in global titles such as Atwood Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, Slumber Magazine and more.
About Caroline & Claude
Caroline & Claude – were, in a sense, born into music. Performance was part of their lives from a young age, whether in the form of the jam sessions they’d have with their extended family, or putting on shows for their parents, Wayne and Jules. But their musical lineage goes even further than that: Caroline & Claude’s grandparents are singers, and used to sing in jazz cafes in their native India. In other words, the fruit that comes to bear in Caroline and Claude’s music grows from a perfect push-pull between nature and nurture: the result of innate musical genes given space to grow and create with impunity.
In mid-2020, forced into pandemic-induced isolation together, Caroline & Claude started to make music, and soon realised they’d stumbled upon something special. To properly understand their music, it’s important to rid your mind of comparisons with other sibling duos. In truth, Caroline & Claude are diametric opposites, the former a classic extrovert and the latter a total introvert. Where Caroline spends her days chasing the kind of emotional connection and social interaction that fuels her art -which, aside from songwriting, also encompasses poetry – Claude is a quintessential studio rat, content to spend his time finessing and perfecting his production techniques. The result is a harmony that’s unique and entirely theirs, and not unlike the one conjured when they sing together. It’s Caroline & Claude’s own kind of magic: introvert wit and extrovert emotionality intertwining to create witty, bombastic tales for a new generation of pop fans.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
