They come from opposite sides of the Atlantic, but rising UK talent Catherine McGrath and American country superstar Hunter Hayes bonded over their shared passion for music. The duo can now share the new single Don’t Let Me Forget which comes ahead of the July 27th release of Catherine’s debut album Talk Of This Town, which is available now for pre-order.

Don’t Let Me Forget is a yearning modern country ballad in which Catherine and Hunter’s sweet vocal harmonies unite to convey the emotive power of the song. The song was produced by Forest Glen Whitehead (Kelsea Ballerini), and written by Catherine, Forest and Adam Hambrick.

“This is one of the few positive love songs I’ve written,” says Catherine. “It’s written from the perspective of being with someone and recognising how special the relationship you have is in that moment. But you also have to remember that relationships won’t always be easy and they won’t always feel as magic as they used to. So you want the other person to remind you of the magic and the good times before you start to lose sight of them.

Getting to have a collaboration on the album was so exciting and for it to be Hunter made it even better. He has been one of my favourite artists for years. We met properly at the C2C festival in London two years ago, and when we sent him ‘Don’t let me forget’ to see if he’d be interested in collaborating on it he even put some guitar on the track too. I hope everyone’s gonna love the song.”

The accompanying video depicts Catherine and Hunter as a young couple who are excited to make some memories in their new home. As with Catherine’s previous video Wild, Don’t Let Me Forget was filmed in Nashville and directed by Justin Nolan Key (Taylor Swift).

Country music is exploding into the mainstream, as demonstrated by recent collabs between Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton, and Bebe Rexha and FloridaGeorgia Line. Everything suggests that Catherine McGrath is poised to become the first crossover star to emerge from the burgeoning UK country scene.

Her profile has been boosted by having ten consecutive tracks hit Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist as well as continuing airplay from Radio 1 and Radio 2. Her live shows further demonstrate her ascending status: her debut London show sold-out in two hours, and her second, at Bush Hall, also sold-out far in advance, and she recently confirmed the biggest tour of her career for September. Her summer festival schedule also features major dates at British Summer Time (as support to Michael Bublé), Isle of Wight, RiZE and many more.

The multi-Platinum Hunter Hayes needs no introduction. The youngest male artist to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, Hunter has enjoyed success with two US country #1 albums and numerous smash hit singles including Wanted (100 million+ streams at Spotify), I Want Crazy, Somebody’s Heartbreak and 21. He has also been nominated for five Grammy Awards.

Catherine’s debut album Talk Of This Town was recorded at various locations in Nashville and London, and affirms her credentials as an artist and songwriter to be reckoned with. It features three tracks which have each exceeded a million streams at Spotify in the shape of the Cinderella, Thought It Was Gonna Be Me and Just In Case as well as a wealth of new material.

Raised in Rostrevor, a small rural village in Northern Ireland, Catherine McGrath is the personification of how country music is opening its borders to talent from far outside of its epicentre in Nashville. In fact, Catherine was immediately embraced by the community upon her first visit.

Country music is of course rooted in Irish folk, so it feels natural that Catherine is at the forefront of a new wave of country. It’s fitting on a personal level too. Catherine was raised in a music loving family, and has regularly performed at her parents’ spirited Fiddler’s Green festival, which attracts musicians from as far afield as North America and Germany. And when Catherine was ready to reach a wider audience, she posted covers of her favourite country songs to YouTube which resulted in her obtaining management and signing a deal with Warner Bros. Records.
