Melbourne-based South African singer/songwriter, CEEKO is reintroducing himself to the world of music today, returning with new R&B inspired track, “Magic” out via Alt. Music Group. The single emerges as the combined vision from CEEKO and the creative forces of Platinum-selling and ARIA award-winning producer and songwriter UNO Stereo, who has worked with the likes of Khalid, Wiley and Miguel.
The soulful notes of “Magic” forge a vibrant portrayal of the world through CEEKO’s eyes, shining a light on those living only to sacrifice their dreams and ambitions under the pressure of societal expectations. Drawing a charming inspiration from Disney classics, “Magic” presents his depiction of those stories in a modern context, delivered in a technicolour haze of harmonies and smooth cadences moulded over powerful rhythms and a melodic presence to weaken the knees.
CEEKO says of the track: “Having to step back and find myself through music once again was a massive challenge and leap of faith to start from scratch. But I have found my signature sound over the last 12 months and I am so excited to get this track out into the universe. I hope it’s a vibe for everybody.”
“Magic” represents a transformation for CEEKO, re-emerging to drive in a lane he is now comfortable with, showcasing the influences from artists such as Masego, Levin Kali and Kyle Dion. Dipping into collaboration in a long-standing career CEEKO has featured on Illstrtd’s “Work Hard’ and as a guest vocalist on Spit Syndicate’s “Houdini”, alongside notable work with top grade artists including Remi, Billy Davis and the Good Lords and Tentendo.
