West London’s Central Cee kicks off the new year with a brand new hard-hitting single titled “Retail Therapy”. The single lands with an energetic and colourful visual that sees Cench and his friends roaming the shop-lined streets of central London, and frequenting his local W12 centre, complete with a stock-room takeover and Bond Street evening antics.
Following on from the chart-scaling “Obsessed With You”, “Retail Therapy” is a further glimpse into Central Cee’s forthcoming ‘23’ mixtape, referencing his love of shopping to improve his mood, and even revealing his star sign. The single arrives alongside a stellar position in 2022’s BBC Sound Poll, as well as an astounding three Brit Award nominations for Best New Artist, Best Song and Best British Hip Hop, Rap, Grime act.
At the end of last year, the West London hailing rapper whipped up a frenzy, when he announced the forthcoming mixtape, alongside a cryptic artwork and tracklist run-down that also revealed the name of the current single. Eagle eyed fans will notice that the 7th mixtape track has 5 featured artist place holders – an unusual hint from an artist who didn’t have a single feature on their debut project. The artwork also contains an Italian reference to ‘Seven Zoo’ and ‘667’ the French rap crew.
The news landed alongside a Trapstar x 23 merch collaboration (Cench’s second), which sold out within an hour flat. A keen fashion head, Cench has also previously dropped a limited run of merch in collaboration with UK Streetwear brand Corteiz, a drop which also sold out within 60 minutes.
Currently breaking globally in a way no UK rapper has done before, Central Cee’s rise has been exponential. He counts two UK Top 10 singles, a further three Top 20s and over 800 million global streams. His first mixtape Wild West is the year’s highest selling UK debut album, and the aforementioned ‘Obsessed With You’ is a confirmed viral smash, BPI certified Silver, after peaking at number 4 in the official chart, and remaining within the Top 10 for 17 weeks.

CC’s independently released debut mixtape Wild West is the highest selling independent project of 2021 and 2021’s only UK debut project to go Gold. The mixtape landed in the wake of the hugely successful singles “Loading” and “Commitment Issues”, breaking internationally. With an international audience share of over 60%, Central Cee is a global talent, with his 2021 UK headline tour selling out in just two minutes.
Late last year, Central Cee won Best Male Artist and Breakthrough Artist of The Year at the GRM Awards – accolades which add to his already incredible position as Spotify’s Radar Artist and YouTube’s Artist On The Rise, not forgetting his recent double gong win at the MOBO Awards for Best Newcomer and Best Drill Act. With co-signs from The Guardian, Pitchfork, NME, Clash, Complex, Crack, Lil Baby, Big Sean, Wizkid, Virgil Abloh and Drake, Central Cee went on to be hand picked to star in Drake’s latest Nike NOCTA Campaign.
In a couple of years where the unexpected has become normal, Central Cee is an unavoidable presence, displaying a grime-esque flow over melodic, forward-thinking beats. His blend of concise lyricism, layered with introspective thought and social commentary, has given listeners from his area, someone to champion as an ever-rising voice in West London’s rap scene.
With close to a billion collective streams, Central Cee is impossible to ignore.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
