As singer-songwriter Charlie Pittman is set to embark on his national tour, starting tomorrow in Melbourne, the half British/half Australian artist releases today his sophomore EP ‘okay.again?’ and shares the new single ‘how i feel?’.
Charlie’s new EP, okay.again?, uses the format to hand-pick six songs that intentionally tell a specific story. There’s not just lyrical threads – the songs share DNA and fade into each other.
“The whole EP is a cyclical thing,” Charlie says. “There’s the same motif at the start and the end, so when it ends, you’ll hear it loop back to the first song. It’s like the cycle of relationships, so with the title I wanted that double meaning. It’s like, you’re OK again, but also, OK, I’m really going to go through this whole thing again? The whole EP is focused on relationships, which is different to what I’ve done before. A lot of my other songs I take from different parts of my life, but these are about the arc from one relationship ending to another one beginning.”
‘how i feel?’, is the closing single lifted from the EP and was co-written with Matt Hastings (The Band CAMINO, NOTD) and Val Hoyt (In Color). “It completes the relationship cycle and ends up where we started at death row but in a different scenario where I’m the one in limbo,” Charlie shares.
Charlie Pittman’s honesty has always been his musical superpower. As a self-taught musician who previously released a string of independent singles before dropping his 2024’s ‘nothing is forever’EP, Charlie has the effortless ability to instantly connect you.“The more specific you can be with your lyrics, the more relatable it can be. I think being more vulnerable, more open with yourself is going to bring people in more. That’s the only way I really know how to write, being super-honest – to my detriment of exposing myself and putting myself fully out there. That’s always kind of what I’ve done and I find it really hard to lie in my songs.”
Blending indie rock with alt-pop, the six track EP ‘okay.again?’ was recorded in Nashville with producer Jonathan Class (Medium Build, The Wldlfe) along with US singer and songwriter Abby Holliday (Medium Build), US based songwriter and producer Dan Swank (All Time Low, KNOX), Australian Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Lach Bostock (Mansionair, Tyne-James Organ, REDD.), singer-songwriter Laura Hyde (Hellcat Speedracer, Ukiyo, Ūla), London based producer and songwriter Itamar Lapidot (Good Neighbours, Raye, Joel Corey), and singer-songwriter Francesca Morris.
Reuniting with good friend, music director and photographer Jack Craig (Forest Claudette, 360, Allday), and director and cinematographer Jordan Ruyi Blanch (Forest Claudette, Ayesha Madon, 3%), the trio came together to shoot the ‘how i feel?’ video in Melbourne on 16mm film.
Jack Craig shares, “shooting on film let us step back, embrace imperfections and enjoy the process, which we felt matched the emotion of the track… we knew we wanted the video to stay tasteful and open to interpretation. Rather than telling the story literally, we leaned into the emotions – uncertainty, distance, and exploration. Placing Charlie in obscure, unfamiliar locations allowed the video to become less about narrative and more about emotion – an ambiguity that felt honest to the song. Charlie’s honesty and vulnerability set the tone for everything we created… As the final visual instalment of okay.again? this felt like the perfect way to close out the chapter.”
Charlie will take his new EP ‘okay.again?’ on the road with his band, supported by Pretty Bleak, Effie Isobel, byjae, Sam McGovern, Repeater and Eliane. Charlie will be performing at SXSW Sydney next month before heading to the UK to support British indie-rock band The Manatees and Live At Leeds Festival on Saturday November 15.

AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
