Chase City are Tasmania’s answer to The Presets cross Prodigy and, with their new single in part co-written by Northeast Party House’s Malcolm Besley, the rest of Australia are soon to catch on. The new single “Latch” is a glitchy dance track that fully showcases Chase City at their most electronic.
The track was produced by Melbourne based engineer Malcolm Young as lead man Tarik explains, “Mal had a huge input on this track helping us re-write a bunch of sections and really changing the trajectory of the track. When we first brought the song to the studio, it had more of an electro punk vibe but under his guidance, we really folded the song into what it is now.”

After the band’s initial session in the studio, they had plans to fly back to Melbourne but then COVID hit. Malcolm & Tarik ended up finishing the track over the internet, continually sending each other files over the internet as they pieced together the track. Tarik says, “it was an interesting experience and ultimately gave the band ample time to hone in on the desired sound”. The song was inspired from a bunch of artists ranging from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Disclosure and Deadmau5.
Following on from their last single “Liberty”, Chase City just played their first shows in 6 months. The Covid restrictions limited patrons and required gig-goers to sit down but the band enjoyed 2 SOLD OUT shows at Hobart’s Altar and the different experience that came with it.
“Everyone who came were very up for seeing a band for the first time this year and there was a lot of enthusiasm, energy and chair dancing from the crowd.” – Chase City

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
