’Summer’ on track to be one of the most powerful entries in their discography to date.” – Rolling Stone
“When it comes to addressing Indigenous affairs in the music scene, no one does it quite like Chasing Ghosts frontman Jimmy Kyle.” – Wall Of Sound
“Australia’s best new music for February…weaving English with his native tongue, and delivering a powerful punk song with sugary hooks and a thrilling momentum that belie the horrors of such a massacre” – The Guardian
Today, Naarm Aboriginal lead indie punk band & NIMA nominated act (Best Emerging Talent) Chasing Ghosts, release their new single / video Amnesia Everbody. It’s the first piece of new music since the bands critically acclaimed EP Homelands, which received 4.5/5 stars from Rolling Stone Australia calling them “the band Australia needs right now.”
Produced by ARIA nominated producer Stevie Knight (Stand Atlantic, Redhook, Yours Truly, Sleeping With Sirens) and mixed by James Paul Wisner (Paramore, Underoath), Amnesia Everybody sees Chasing Ghosts belting out a catchy up-tempo indie punk anthem with thought-provoking lyrics.
Front man Jimmy Kyle hails from Thungutti Country, and has emerged as one of Australia’s most important Indigenous songwriters in recent years.
Amnesia Everybody chooses to spotlight the ignorance of Australia’s historic treatment of its First Peoples, often in favour of a sanitised and more acceptable version of history. Yet, the statistics and the truth remain; as does the reality that continues to see Australia’s First Nations community blamed for their own decimation and current marginalisation. Yet, in Kyle’s impassioned delivery and open sense of songwriting, a vivid sense of resilience remains at its heart.
About the new single Jimmy Kyle states; “Anthropologist W.E.H. Stanner talked about “The Cult of Forgetfulness”, and “The Great Australian Silence” in reference to non-indigenous Australians and their failure to acknowledge not just the atrocities of our past, but in also choosing to not think about them at all. Instead, a different history arose in Australia – one of negative stereotypes that victim-blamed First Nations Peoples for our own marginalisation and systematic decimation.”
“This song references the stark realities and historical data of this country’s background; that 50% of Australian massacres that were led by colonial police and often murderous politicians…and yet it is these same perpetrators who have streets named in their honour, heritage listed graves, statues, electorates, towns, and cities; glorifying their names and misrepresenting their reputations for sanitised and palatable amended versions of history”
Chasing Ghosts today also announce a worldwide digital deal with Believe along with the Amnesia Everybody tour, which sees the band playing three headline shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Joining Chasing Ghosts on all dates is Naarm’s very own MUDRAT. Full tour details below.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
