CLIPPED Music Video Festival is pleased to announce the finalists for the film clip competition, exclusive music video premieres from local artists and panel details.

CLIPPED is Australia’s premiere music video festival, dedicated to promoting and celebrating the best of Australia and New Zealand’s artists in the field. Held at SUNSTUDIOS and run in conjunction with Vivid Ideas, this one-day event includes a film clip competition, The inaugural film clip competition sees the top 20 videos. This year’s competition had an overwhelming entry pool which saw over 400 submissions from Australia and New Zealand.

Finalists have been selected by an industry expert judging panel, and these 20 finalists are eligible to claim awards in the following categories:

exclusive CLIPPED music video premieres
an interactive video
exhibition featuring some of the industry’s best work, and discussion panels with industry leaders.
industry experts, including acclaimed American video clip director Warren Fu (Daft Punk, judged and awarded live by The Strokes, Mark Ronson).

CLIPPED Music Video Festival will premiere two local videos during the event with exclusive Q&As.

Evan Klar’s video for Deepest Creatures directed by Riley Blakeway (directed Cherry Glazerr, Froth) and the NSW premiere of Slum Sociable’s CASTLE directed by Jack Peddey (directed No Zu, Client Liaison)

In addition, audiences will be treated to two more never been released videos : Mysterious Light’s Night Visit directed by Ben Mansfield and Old Sault’s Sail Home directed by Richard Clifford) a special screening of the RAGE 30 documentary; which celebrates Australian artists through a special look at its history and influence on Australian music and culture over the last 30 years.

CLIPPED will be showcasing fantastic entries from AMIN’s LOVE LIVE MUSIC 60 second film competition. Discussion panels focused on the importance music videos play in today’s industries will run throughout the day with invited industry experts including: Warren Fu (Daft Punk, The Strokes), Tim Daley Country Music Channel, Tyson Koh (ABC Rage), Emma Haarburger (Courtney Barnett), Darcy Prendergast (Oh Yeah Wow), Tim Price (Collision Course PR), Lawrence Lim (Tribal Apes), Ella Gibbins (Cinematographer) Fardad Nejati (One Accounting) will also give inside expertise from a business angle, including Q&A opportunity.
