CONNAN MOCKASIN fronts Karen Walker ‘Monumental’ eyewear campaign
Iconic New Zealand designer Karen Walker has today unveiled the zeitgeist-defining creative Connan Mockasin as the face of the brand’s first men’s campaign, titled ‘Monumental’. The campaign was shot by Derek Henderson and took influence from the feathered headwear of Monumental men such as Lord Nelson and Julius Caesar, with Connan Mockasin wearing the new collection with a little ornithological assistance.
Connan Mockasin resides in Los Angeles with Japan’s first Playboy Playmate Hiromi Oshima, where he’s putting the finishing touches on his third solo album, to be released on Mexican Summer.
Also in progress is a five-part dramatic series titled Bostyn ‘n Dobsyn, a fictional tale of a music teacher, Mr Bostyn (played by Mockasin himself), and his star pupil J.Dobsyn. More updates will follow soon.
Karen Walker’s eccentrically elegant style has established a stellar international following for her ready-to-wear, eyewear, jewellery, bags and fragrance.
Karen’s signature energy and optimism define the label. Her designs cleverly play with cultural subtext, juxtaposing luxe and street, masculine and feminine, folk and utility, creating pieces that are both directional and wearable: Alexa Chung, Lorde, Rihanna, Gigi Hadid, Florence Welch and Lena Dunham count themselves amongst the formidable roster of celebrity fans.
The brand is available at retail in 42 countries, 200 cities and 1020 stores including Barneys New York, Liberty London and Harvey Nichols.
Her influence has seen her consistently ranked for the past four years in The Business of Fashion’s powerhouse BoF 500, reflecting her position as a global industry figure shaping the future.
