Ahead of their hugely anticipated debut album What Comes Next, out June 15 via Sony/RCA Records, twin tastemaking producers Cosmo’s Midnight today release another invigorating track in “Lowkey” featuring the laidback vocals of US rapper Buddy and East London’s Jay Prince. The utterly fresh single offers eager fans a taste of new material to be premiered on their upcoming tour and all new live show in July. Due to overwhelming sold-out demand, the duo today add a third show in Sydney and Melbourne, and second in Perth to the already impressive run, presented by Astral People, Maker Agency & triple j.
Embracing the duo’s already well-established off kilter grooves, “Lowkey” showcases a dreamy blend of smooth synths and addictive basslines with the flowing vocals of effortlessly cool collaborators Buddy and Jay Prince. The feel-good track captures the twin producers’ dexterity in cooking up body-moving tracks that breathe moments of undeniable joy. “Lowkey” compliments the duo’s recent string of triple j #1 Most Played singles, including “History”, “Mind off” feat. Kudu Blue and “Get to Know” feat. Winston Surfshirt. Collectively, they’ve amassed over 16 million Spotify plays.
Cosmo’s Midnight‘s Cosmo Liney says on “Lowkey”: “We started this one in an Airbnb in LA. I think I was just chilling and watching a movie, when Pat came over and showed me this beat he’d started with really crunchy drums that was super hooky. We’d recently stumbled on Buddy’s EP that he’d written with Kaytranada and thought his flow was perfect for the track. We also had just seen Jay Prince’s performance of ‘Father, Father’ on COLOURS and thought he’d make the perfect counterpart to Buddy. We reached out to them and thankfully they both were super keen to get on it and make it the track it is.”

“Lowkey” arrives after their latest house-leaning single “Polarised”, and hot on the heels of a collection of brand new live shows across Australia. Launching the album at Sydney’s iconic The Metro Theatre on July 6, they’ll then head to Brisbane’s The Flying Cock on July 7. A week later, the pair venture south for three shows at Melbourne’s The Corner Hotel on July 11, 12 and 13, before making their way to Perth’s Jack Rabbit Slims on July 14 and a newly added show on July 15. Closing the killer run, the duo will play a new all-ages show The Metro, Sydney on July 27 before heading to Adelaide’s Fat Controller on July 28, a newly announced show at Canberra’s UC Refectory on August 3, and returning home for a third, now sold-out Sydney show at The Metro Theatre on August 4.
From Sydney’s Inner West to the world stage, Cosmo’s Midnight spent 2017 on an ambitious touring schedule, dazzling record crowds at home and beyond, including a standout performance at last year’s Splendour In The Grass festival and their biggest international tour yet. The duo performed on stages across Asia and New Zealand, and closed out their world tour with a run of selected North American shows, including sold out stops at The Roxy in Los Angeles and Rough Trade in New York. Following recent crowd-favourite appearances across the country at regional festival Groovin the Moo, the boys are set for an equally stunning year embarking on another adventure to celebrate their new groove-heavy record and inject dance floors across the homeland with the nostalgic feel good vibes they know best.
