Melbourne alt-rockers Creek have broken stylistic boundaries by shifting their familiar guitar riff-focused aesthetic to make way for some uplifting two – and at some points three! – part vocal harmonies on their latest single, ‘Made Of’. While there are subtle, yet intriguing guitar arrangements existing as a means to build a mindful atmosphere, the tune is predominantly lead by these rich, 60’s pop-influenced harmonies; helping to deliver the sentimental message of resilience.

After having just wrapped up their highly rewarding Aussie east coast tour that saw them travel up to Brisbane’s Mojo Burning 2019, the band released the first single off their upcoming debut LP ‘The Deep’, coupled with an entrancingly wicked music video directed by filmmakers Sammy Pearson and Jackson Tipping of Cruelty Road Studios. This morbidly heavy blues tune follows the alluring ‘swamp siren’ (Dominik Shields) as she lures her victim through the forest to his grave.

‘The Deep’ [Official Music Video] – Creek (see below) ‘Made Of’ was written in contrast to the band’s previous releases of late, and can be interpreted as a positive resolution to the chaos and tension depicted in these guitar-heavy tunes.

Infusing the sounds of 1960’s/70’s blues-rock, psych, and soul with more recent progressive/alternative styles, it’s in the band’s framework to hit you with a refreshing dose of rhythm you can get up and into, and leave you feeling satisfied with a captivating performance experience you just won’t forget.

With a sound that can either work with the grain or fight against it in the world of rock music, Creek have a certain adaptability which enables them to fit bills of varying style. In the past, they’ve cranked the amps up to support Aussie icons Shannon Noll and Chocolate Starfish, and have made light of their more creative side when supporting alternative acts the likes of 1000Mods.
