Cub Sport continue to be one of LGBTQ’s most distinctive voices and a leading force in Australian pop. To celebrate the end of a momentous 2019 the unstoppable four piece announce ‘333’ – a visual triple a-side consisting of three brand new tracks with accompanying videos, released over three consecutive weeks.

The project kicked off last night after triple j premiered Hearts In Halvesthe first of three new songs which showcases the band’s knack for laying down succulent synth-led grooves. Moving alongside Tim Nelson’s stellar vocals, the track immediately solidifies itself as an emphatic, standalone single. Set for release on December 17th, the second track City Of Angels, carries a swift beat in between delicate and swelling choral sections. It’s another carefully crafted offering and harnesses Cub Sport’s trademark blend of sensual evocative pop. The final release comes on December 24th and is the band’s first ever instrumental – Air’, which expands to cosmic proportions, gliding along in sleepy, spaced out euphoria.

Speaking of the release, frontman Tim Nelson says:

“333 is made up of three songs that fit together to conjure a feeling of deep and healing euphoria. It sweeps you up in all-encompassing hypnotic sonics; the chordal and harmonic combinations feel like a pang in your chest – there are forces of beauty, sorrow, growth, pain and joy. It’s uplifting, renewing and feels good in a holistic way. This release feels very significant. It feels like it has the energy of a whole album – there’s a message and a feeling within these songs. It’s powerful, it’s palpable, it feels GOOD and that’s why it needed to exist.”

Cub Sport now have over 90 million streams on Spotify and 1 million monthly listeners. Released earlier this year, their eponymously titled third album scored feature album on triple j and hit Number 1 on the Australian Album Chart and stayed in the Independent Album Chart for over 12 weeks. The album won worldwide acclaim, with critics and fans alike praising frontman Tim Nelson’s honest and frank song writing following what he calls the most transformative year of his life. Whilst previous album ‘BATS chronicled Tim’s coming to terms with and embracing his identity, ‘Cub Sport’ was the product of Tim activating all the lessons learned during the process. The band released a new single, ‘I Never Cried So Much In My Whole Life’ in October, featuring a guest vocal from Darren Hayes. The release coincided with the band’s huge European tour, their most successful yet, which included a sold-out show at London’s Scala.
