Do you believe in custard? Say it again… do you believe in Custard? We sure do. Those lounge reclining soothsayers of the suburban interior. Raise your hands… and open the curtains to tales of the intimate, the awkward, and the everyday. Squeegee those windows, paste up that wallpaper, put the tea on, and discover bouts of pop and circumstance. Fertilise those cushioned lawns of pathos and humour. Open up that front gate to the new world opus of CUSTARD’s double album Surburban Curtains out this spring.

First single MOLECULES COLLIDING wafts through the windows  – with accompanying video as baked by jack of all trades band member Glenn Thompson.

“This is a love song. A long human relationship in three inscrutable verses and one equivocating bridge. Luckily the chorus is empowering in its embrace of contrasts of scale, and recognition of the echoes and repetition within physics and humanity. The finale is open ended, lyrically anticipatory and musically truncated. A study in contradiction and reflection.”

Joining Custard on this open the curtains tour will be special guests THE FAUVES and THE STRESS OF LEISURE – both also releasing sumptuous new albums this spring clean. Ongoing forecasts supplied below.

CUSTARD …respond.

Responding to suggestions that they have always been nothing more than a primitive wet-dream of a 56k modem, Custard are back with new music and new gigs in the year that is 2024.

Attention AI fanbots, prepare to have your newsfeed explode in an algorithmic orgasm of musical chem-trails as Custard are returning to your anachronistic bakelites and proverbial rostrums in 2024. With a brand new double vinyl album of 90s revivalist favourites called “Suburban Curtains” waiting anxiously in the wings to email out… this is a band at the peak of processing power. Sure, with collective age of 429, this could possibly be the beginning of the end, or at the very least the end of the beginning, but our Custaro search engines predict big things for the wacky Brisbane juggernaut! All on auto-send now.

THE FAUVES

Everything you want from The Fauves and none of the stuff you don’t. Now in new-for-2024 hologram format, The Fauves version 4.1.2.6* provides a seamless concert experience.  Download the app to set musician competence levels or fast-forward through parts of the gig you don’t like. Pause the show when you’re full and take the rest of it home to enjoy the next day. Purchase the VIP package to hang around backstage with your favourite digital band in a conversationally safe environment. Don’t be fooled by the toned musculature and flawless complexions of our all-new holograms – these facsimiles have been programmed to reproduce all the flaws and quirks of the old decommissioned, no longer supported human format, but in a way we know you’ll love. All tickets come with a mandatory lifetime subscription to all other tickets to all other Fauves shows, such as may be performed now or in the future, all for a low, low $29.99 a month, while stocks last.**
* The Fauves’ 13th album Tropical Strength is out in November. While it was recorded by the superseded human version, our coding team is working tirelessly to redesign the songs based on a range of popular algorithms for a better, upgraded listening experience!
** Currently 7.59 billion years, or when the earth is swallowed by the sun, in part or in full, whichever occurs first, notwithstanding such other catastrophic events as may imperil the ongoing viability of the Earth, or any potential neighbouring planets or interstellar bodies (hereinafter, the “host environments”),  to support human and/or hologram life).

THE STRESS OF LEISURE

Faux wave band The Stress of Leisure return on their sub-tropical deathwatch with LP ‘It Goes Away With The Heat’. The Brisbane quartet are set to reacquaint themselves with the rest of Australia for the first time in 6 years, having only recently played with Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds and friends Regurgitator. Somewhat post-punk, somewhat fruity, somewhat always adjacent to everyday hostility in the lyrics, the band continues to rage in the age of Trumpism.
