Australian electronic royalty Cut Copy are thrilled to announce they’ll return to play two special headline shows this July. Ahead of their highly anticipated Splendour In The Grass appearance, the Melbourne four-piece will play Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Wednesday July 19 thereafter heading to their hometown to play The Croxton in Melbourne on Thursday July 20.

After releasing the ever-so ambient limited edition cassette, January Tape in 2016, the band’s first official release since 2013’s Free Your Mind, fans were wondering what would follow. Now nearly a year later, audiences can finally get ready as Cut Copy return to where it all began – their epic live show. Now performing as recent signees of Astralwerks / EMI with promised new music on the way, these shows will give their Australian fans a sneak preview of what’s to come.

Special guest Harvey Sutherland will appear at both Sydney and Melbourne shows, bringing his renowned futurist disco and relentless energy to the night. Fresh from their European tour, Melbourne-based Sutherland will be performing with his band Bermuda, prior to Cut Copy taking the stage.

In the past decade and a half, Cut Copy has gone from pioneering Melbourne’s cult indie/electronic scene to being a Class A international act. Having toured the world multiple times, Cut Copy have secured a cult worldwide following. Lead by vocalist and keyboardist Dan Whitford, Cut Copy’s live show is a festival must-see, slated at prime slots across prestigious festivals including Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, Lollapalooza, Primavera, Pitchfork and Summer Sonic.

Cut Copy’s infectious live show is matched only by the beautiful complexity of their songs. Layered swaths of melody, sections with dissonance and nods to many genres all packaged into timeless pop songs. The result is large groups of people gathering together in an explosion of joy. Their diverse catalogue, which includes four full-length albums and numerous remixes and singles, has been nominated for multiple awards. In Ghost Colours received nominations for the ARIA Awards’ Best Dance/Electronic Album and Album of the Year at the J Awards, while Zonoscope was awarded Best Dance Release at the ARIA Awards and nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the Grammy Awards.

As those who have been lucky enough to witness the ride can attest, Cut Copy’s evolution has been nothing short of spectacular and their journey is far from over. With the announcement of these two headline shows, signing to Astralwerks / EMI plus new music on the way, the next chapter is not a matter of what; it’s a matter of when.
