Sydney indie-pop outfit Dande and The Lion released their new single, “Twilight Highway”, last Friday 2nd August, following up from their first single “Stardust”, released in March.
The track combines a bold arrangement of expansive electro-pop synths, a catchy chorus, energetic hook, off centre guitar riffs, all-encompassing percussion, and is as instantly infectious as their last track, making it the road trip track of the year.
“We wrote Twilight Highway with the intention of creating something lively and basically just wanting to dance!” said the band. “Twilight Highway is an interesting one for us; instrumentally it was a collaborative experience, yet Nick was the one who wrote the lyrics and envisioned Tass singing lead.”
Cosmic and comical, the accompanying music video for “Twilight Highway” is a mesmerising masterpiece that compliments the quirky sound of the single. The energy of the track is brought to life in the song’s intriguing visuals, inspired by the Vaporwave genre. The video is a modern take on 2000’s PC graphics, with swirling colours and effects creating a feeling of a dream-like cyberpunk universe of light and fun.

Dande and The Lion’s much-anticipated EP is set for release later in the year, and was recorded and produced by Lachlan Mitchell. With four separate songwriters coming together, each track is very diverse and promises to channel the electric live energy that is their trademark.
Dande and The Lion had a busy 2018 playing shows, including sold-out shows in Sydney’s acclaimed The Oxford Art Factory and Wollongong’s Radbar, and packing out rooms in Melbourne and Newcastle. They released some singles receiving radio play on FBi, 4ZZZ and 2SER and a swathe of community radio stations.
