Today, ARIA Hall Of Fame Inductee Daryl Braithwaite has released the official music video for ‘Love Songs’.

Directed by Jared Kahi, the animated video was directed and produced by Studio Local in New Zealand.

The concept for the video was born out of Covid-19 lockdown. Daryl himself had the idea of creating a video that touched on some key nostalgic moments from across his career…a scrap-book, if you will. From there, the concept grew to include the road trip scenes (something Daryl enjoys doing) and so the journey traces some pinacle moments for the Australian music icon.

If you look carefully you’ll notice some great moments throughout the video, from the Sherbet number plate and a snippet of Daryl performing live in the ‘Summer Love’ video from 1975, to assorted album and single covers from across Daryl’s career including EDGE, TASTE THE SALT and RISE. As we follow his journey we catch footage from two of his biggest hits of the early 90’s, ‘One Summer’ and ‘The Horses’ at the drive in theatre, as well as a Falls Festival lanyard (where he famously performed in front of thousands of people in 2017/18) and even a live shot from this year’s incredible Fire Fight concert. In the final scene the Falcon pulls up outside a venue where he enters the stage and sings the final line of ‘Love Songs’. That final moment is the only piece filmed with Daryl (in-person). It was shot in Melbourne and treated so that it seamlessly plugged in to the rest of the animated scenes.

On the video, Daryl comments, “This video is a real personal one for me. It’s been 7 years since I’ve released original music so to come out with ‘Love Songs’ has been such a thrill. I loved how this concept came together and hopefully people can connect with the little moments we’ve created in the video”.

Today, Daryl Braithwaite also launched his new merchandise range via The Thread Shop and www.darylbraithwaite.com.au. Fans are able to purchase classic ‘The Horses’ merch including sweater, t-shirt and tea towel. Even the ‘Love Songs’ journal that features in the music video can be purchased. Along with new merch, fans are able to pre-order ‘Love Songs’ on CD, either as a merch bundle or standalone single.
