At long last, Dear Seattle have released their highly anticipated album Someday, out today, via Domestic La La.

Following previous singles such as “Here to Stay” and “Feel The Weight” released earlier this year, we couldn’t be more excited to hear the album in full, and see the band perform their hits through electric live performances! With supporting acts such as  Sydney’s trio, STUMPS, along with Horror My Friend and Sophisticated Dingo, this is one tour not to be missed.

The brand new album embodies pure aspiration and excited anticipation, to fear, expectation and crippling anxiety. The band take us on a whirlwind journey through the inner workings of their thought processes as they navigate tumultuous events, ultimately learning and growing as humans along the way.

The talented names behind Dear Seattle include vocalist Brae Fisher, guitarist Lachlan Simpson, bassist Jeremy Baker, and drummer Josh McKay, where they effortlessly collaborate on the smoothest of tracks that explore topics from taboo to truth, on the complexities of everyday life, mental health, and relationships.

Dear Seattle revealed the variety of genre on this record, explaining “There’s loads of acoustic guitar and bits of pianos and synths to break up the angst. When we were writing this album we were going away to Airbnb’s and writing with acoustic guitars and an electric kit, which I think made us really consider the songwriting more and led to us wanting to branch out from the overdriven power chords quite often.”

The brand new single “Split” explores the detriment of indecision, delineating the feelings of not being entirely present, nor in the past or future, expressed in a way that is captivating and enforces growth within ourselves. Dear Seattle explains how the situation “causes you so much stress, but that pales in comparison to how it ultimately impacts the people around you.”

Someday encompasses 11 tracks, featuring an incredibly raw depiction of the realisation that living in the present moment is necessary when contributing to one’s happiness and personal growth.

The opening track “Home” reflects on all past hardships and experiences, learning from difficult situations, and navigating new issues as a result of this. “In My Head” is about stepping back into the real world after a period of deep self reflection, feeling disconnected from the world around us. The next track, “Way Out,”  is a deep dive into codependency and how dysfunction can build up in a relationship that lacks honest communication, further touching on the ignorant simplicities of bottling up our emotions, instead of discussing them.

The second 2022 single release, “Here To Stay,” centres around the heartache of arguments between loved ones and how it impacts the perspective of reality as a result. The next released single from 2022, “Feel The Weight,” then tackles the concept of internalised pressures and unattainable expectations and standards. It explores unhealthy tendencies, fears, and self-sabotage when succumbing to the band’s public criticism.

“Irretrievable” depicts the cyclical loop of mental illness and the experience of finally becoming aware of it. Exploring the realisation that instead of feeling defeated every time you fall back into your negative headspace, you can be learning and growing instead. “Aside Again” is a self-reflective acknowledgement from an artist perspective of being able to explore the multiplex nature of songwriting, instead of fitting into a single-genred box.

“Paranoid Letter” is about coming to terms with the possibility of suffering from depression and suppressing the need to validate these feelings. The following track “A Perfect House” exhibits the importance of navigating rocky relationships. The final track “Someday” centres around the deep yearning to live out aspirations and become the prime person of yourself by learning and observing those around us.

The band have previously hit the stage with their “Way Out” national tour earlier this year, kicking off in Canberra, ACT in January, and finishing up in March in Adelaide, SA. The band have also spawned tours with the likes of Tired Lion, Balance And Composure, Hockey Dad and Trophy Eyes, and festival slots on Groovin’ The Moo, UNIFY, Festival Of The Sun and Party In The Paddock.

Dear Seattle captured industry and audience hearts alike upon the album’s release in February 2019, titled ‘Don’t Let Go,’ which garnered praise from the likes of Pilerats (“stellar”), The Music, (“hard not to fall in love with”), New Noise (“an immaculate effort”) and more, saw the band invited to play triple j’s lauded Like A Version segment, copped a nomination for Best Rock/Punk Album at the 2020 AIR Awards, and scored a huge headline Australian tour to celebrate. The record has also amassed close to 8 million streams.

Don’t forget to grab tickets for Dear Seattle’s National album tour Someday in late September; Sydney trio STUMPS, Horror My Friend and Sophisticated Dingo are supporting them on tour.

The Someday tour will be happening in September and October 2022, kicking off at Adelaide Lion Arts Factory, then to Perth’s The Rosemount, Queensland’s Brightside, and The iconic Corner Hotel in Melbourne, before heading home to Sydney’s Crowbar in Leichhardt.
