“With that laid-back guitar line, the Arctic’s vibe in the delivery, and the psych tinges here and there, how could you not love it.” – Richard Kingsmill
“It’s a spacey, colourful gem which is to be expected, but there’s also a restraint and a touch of 70s soft rock in there too. I’m expecting to see some sharp, oversized suits and camp collar shirts next time I see you live.” – Declan Byrne, triple j Home & Hosed
“This band doesn’t slow down! After dropping their first record in 2020 they’re already giving us new music. We’re not worthy! I love how they’re embracing their melodic and proggy side more and more here while it still feels like a big DBD sing-along.” – Dave Ruby Howe, triple j unearthed
Perth’s favourite indie four-piece Death by Denim are sliding in to 2022 with another woozy, guitar-laced delight with brand-new single ‘Make It Up As We Go’, the fourth release from their forthcoming sophomore album Moonbow out March 18, 2022.

The new track is a nod to The Beatles; drawing inspiration from their softer acoustic vibes, the catchy sing along is reminiscent of ‘Here Comes the Sun’. Not to be restrained by the mellow nature of an acoustic guitar, the band added a Fender Jag plugged straight into a fuzz pedal to bring the level of energy Death by Denim are synonymous for.
The band describes the single, “The title pretty much describes our current life mantra now, week to week we are just making it up as we go. There’s a lot of questions, a lot of hangovers and we are all dead broke on the other side of 25 but you can’t deny it has been a blast. I think we all thought we would have it figured out by now, but the joke is on us, and we are the ones laughing.”
In exciting news, today Death by Denim have also announced they have signed a deal with ADA/Warner Music Australia. The band have commented on the signing, “We are so excited to be teaming up with Warner Music/ADA to deliver the next crop of our musical madness. It is such an amazing opportunity, and we can’t wait to see where it takes us!”
Dan Rosen, President of Warner Music Australasia comments “We are very excited to welcome one of WA’s most exciting bands into the Warner/ADA family, and to be joining forces again with our great friends at Lemontree Music”
“We’re thrilled to be part of the Death By Denim team and excited to be working with them to get their album out into the world”, adds Ben Ralph, SVP ADA Australia & Distributed Labels.
Moonbow is a dynamic leap from their hugely successful debut album Sleepless and Sunkissed, packed full of rich melody and lyrics that pull you in all directions. The band delivered the first glimpses of what to expect from the album with 2021 hits ‘Small World’, ‘Cause A Scene’ and ‘Feels Like Fiction’ and they did not disappoint, garnering praise from triple j, Unearthed, NME AUS, The Music & Life Without Andy.
Back at Debaser Studios only a few weeks after the release of their debut album, they were ready to get going on their second album and eager to take the band into a new chapter of the DBD-Verse. Spending their year grounded, with no other alternative but to self-reflect, the band were able to find a lot of highs via their soul-searching. Personal relationships and struggles narrated by introspective commentary have been a key feature of the album along with their collective experience over the last year as a band.
The band explain, “The past two years had been about keeping perspective and a healthy outlook despite the uncertainty of the future. The good times have always outweighed the bad and while there have been setbacks there is still this beaming excitement amongst us all to continue on the musical path. I think this is reflected in the overall tone of the album. Though it explores some darker personal moments and emotions at times there is this greater sense of triumph and recognition. You could say ‘Moonbow’ is all about learning to overcome and be comfortable with the chaos and confusion in your life – past, present and future.”

To celebrate the release of Moonbow, Death by Denim are hitting the road on a National tour in March-April and Mark McGowan cannot stop them getting their album to the masses.
“We’ve decided to bite the bullet and continue on as usual with our national tour! We’ve missed our East Coast DBD family too much, so we are copping the quarantine when we get back home. Here’s hoping we don’t kill each other, wish us luck”

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
