Australia’s celebrated indie band Deep Sea Arcade is excited to release the Barley Passable Re-Design of their track ‘Steam.’ Reimagined with a bold, futuristic twist inspired by Daft Punk and Justice, this remix infuses the track with cinematic textures and contemporary beats while staying true to its nostalgic core. The release coincides with the vinyl reissue of their iconic debut album Outlands via Impressed Recordings on November 29th.

Originally mixed by Doug Boehm (Powderfinger, Miley Cyrus, The Pharcyde), Barley Passable’s reinterpretation thoughtfully reworks the track’s stems, blending modern energy with the timeless essence of the original. The result is a dynamic remix that honours Deep Sea Arcade’s legacy while propelling their sound into the future. Lead singer Nic McKenzie shared his excitement: “I’m absolutely loving the spin the Barley Passable guys have put on this rework of Steam. It’s inspired me to explore new and creative transitions for our live shows this March.”

Currently, the band is in the studio crafting their much-anticipated third album, co-produced and mixed by Jay Watson (Tame Impala, Pond). The first single, ‘No Direction,’ will debut in March 2025, alongside an East Coast tour supported by Naarm/Chicago-based psych artist Milou Moon.
