DENZEL CURRY REVEALS
NEW SINGLE ‘RICKY’
WITH BRAWLIN’ NEW VID

Today, Denzel Curry shares a new single, marking his first official release since his critically-acclaimed breakout album TA13OO in 2018. ‘RICKY’, named after Denzel’s father, is an introspective look at his childhood in Miami, with Denzel delivering powerful memories from his youth and detailing the wisdom his father passed down to him.
The single’s accompanying video, directed by ‘BLACK BALLOONS‘ collaborator Twelve’len, captures scenes of Denzel’s childhood in Miami. The video was filmed in the backyard of MMA and brawling legend Dada 5000, where Dawg Fight, the documentary on the backyard brawling scene in Miami, was filmed.
Denzel’s late brother Treon was actively involved in backyard brawling and often fought in this same yard during Denzel’s childhood. The video also features Dada 5000 as a referee and an appearance by Chocolate, a fighter who was featured in the documentary.
The new single arrives as Denzel gears up to join Billie Eilish and $uicideBoy$ on separate North American tours, and of course follows Denzel’s recent AUS headline run for Laneway Festival – including sold out shows in Sydney (Maxx Watt’s) and Melbourne (170 Russell).
Whilst in the country, Denzel took to triple j’s Like A Version studio for a seismic rendition of Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Bulls On Parade’ (1996) and a special live version of ‘BLACK BALLOONS‘ featuring Australia’s own Sampa The Great and Harts.
‘Bulls On Parade‘ was quick to break borders, with an unprecedented amount of shares and international coverage from XXL, The FADER, Stereogum, NME, Kerrang, CLASH and Consequence of Sound; alongside a host of Australian praise and posts. The partnering video sits at more than 9.5 million combined views on Facebook and YouTube, peaking at #2 on YouTube Trending Chart (WATCH HERE).
New music in 2019 follows TA13OO, which debuted at #28 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, alongside praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and Stereogum – and landing triple j Feature Album here in Australia.
