Platinum-selling artist, DJ, and producer Dillon Francis today releases White Boi feat. Lao Ra, the lead single off his forthcoming new album WUT WUT out September 28 via his own IDGAFOS record label. White Boi has been recorded alongside rising Colombian “pineapple pop” vocalist, Lao Ra who also features in the stellar video for the single.(WATCH HERE)
Filmed in the Dominican Republic, the music video finds Lao Ra telling multiple characters portrayed by Francis, as well as anyone who will listen, about the white boy she fell in love with. The vibrant video has been brought to life by Director Allie Avital (Chairlift, Hundred Waters, The Knocks).
Lending words to the release, Francis says “This record is really special to me because it’s one of the few songs on my album that’s in both English and Spanish. I think Lao Ra is a freaking star, and working with her was a dream come true! It was so easy to write this song together, and we’ve already started working on many more. I can’t wait for the world to hear White Boi!”.
“This is an ode to the white boys in my life and how exotic and endearing they are to me. Think Dillon loved the fact that he was a white boy himself. The song might be about something else tho’ but that’s for you to find out.” added Lao Ra.
Executive produced by Toy Selectah, Dillon Francis’ album WUT WUT was recorded in New York City, Miami, Dominican Republic, and Mexico City. Francis began teasing the record earlier this year with the release of tracks Ven feat. Arcángel & Quimico Ultra Mega, We The Funk feat. Fuego, BaBaBa feat. Young Ash and Look At That Butt feat.Jarina De Marco and Never Let You Go feat. De La Ghetto.
“The whole thing started from the Westside EP in 2011. I had just discovered moombahton and began experimenting with Latin styles,” shared Francis. “For my second album, I wanted to create one cohesive vision, since I now have a better understanding about what that means. Latin music is very close to my heart, and I knew this would be fun. I was trying to go back to the super-duper roots of where I came from. I feel like I could’ve put this out right after the EP, but I’m glad I did it now because of everything I’ve learned and the people I’ve met.”
A festival favourite, Francis has ignited the stages of Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra, TomorrowWorld, Electric Zoo and has performed sets locally at Groovin The Moo, Big Day Out, Stereosonic and Field Day.
With his brand new album set for release before the end of the month, 2018 has proved a huge year for Dillon Francis and there is no slowing down.
