‘Unravelling more layers of dœgægé’s eclectic and immersive DIY artistry between his multidisciplinary roles as a singer-songwriter, producer, visual artist, and video animator, ‘THUNDER PERFUME’ finds the artists gentle, soft-spoken vocal textures set against atmospheric layers of 90’s style reverb-drenched riffs, peppy percussion, and intricate chords.’
– Sniffers
‘Take his debut single, ‘A HEADACHE & A BLACK EYE’, for example: the song opens with a riff reminiscent of the Dunedin sound, before it veers into something akin to Matty Healy performing a scuzzy pop-punk number. The whole thing is unruly, peculiar, but always intriguing.’
– Rolling Stone Australia
‘…listening to the first two singles the 21-year-old wunderkind has teased from the project, one is struck by the pristine clarity and sureness of his artistic vision.’
– Mixdown Magazine
‘[on ‘A HEADACHE & A BLACK EYE’] ‘It’s taking me back to the early The 1975 days for sure. I love it and can’t wait to hear more from you. And what DRH said – this might literally be your new fav obsession. You gotta check it out!’

Today, Aotearoa/New Zealand born, Naarm/Melbourne-based artist dœgægé (pronounced doh-gah-gay) shares his highly anticipated debut EP GOBLIN BLISS ETERNAL RELIEF, out now via Believe Australia & New Zealand. Written and produced by Caleb Doe (aka dœgægé) over the past two years, the EP explores the symbiotic duality of madness and ecstasy. dœgægé’s pop-punk sound is unapologetically angsty, in a ‘… unruly, peculiar, but always intriguing’ [Rolling Stone AU] way. Over the past few months dœgægé has shared previous singles ‘A HEADACHE & A BLACKEYE’, ‘A DYING GNOME’ and most recently ‘THUNDER PERFUME’ – which have been supported by the likes of triple j, Sniffers, 10 Magazine, Vice AU and Rolling Stone AU.
Speaking further on the creation of his debut EP, dœgægé shares; ‘This project has been the most challenging, teaching, frustrating, beautiful experience I have ever had. This was a 2 year process to finish, I grew in so many ways as it was happening. Nothing was forced, every song had to feel like it needed to be made. It tortures feelings of madness & ecstasy and the way they can’t exist without each other. Loss & love, ignorance & bliss. I wrote and recorded everything myself, I made all the artwork and visuals myself. It showed me how much I love to make music, I know for certain this is just what I do.’ – dœgægé, the rockstar

Speaking on the meaning behind the new single, ‘BINGO WITH THOSE DEAD GUYS’, dœgægé explains; ‘Bingo was written last and added to the EP specifically as a closer. It’s written about not giving a single fuck and the idea that ignorance is bliss. Being self aware but not sorry, and trusting in the universe when you get dealt bad hand. I think the other songs are somewhat inspired by artists I listen to, but this song was pretty sincerely my own.’
Today, dœgægé also launches his first line of merch items, in collaboration with local Melbourne designer Feaath. Melbourne-based label Feaath is the creation of Jasmine Featherston, a visionary artist. As Feaath continues to develop as a label, Jasmine’s dedication to the meticulous process of hand-made design remains at its core, acting as a source of immense pride as she crafts each one-off garment with much love and care. My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
