Hard-hitting rock group Dolphin Friendly unleash their new single ‘Killing Silence’ on the 25th of November via the MEOW label. The Christchurch quartet have become a ground-breaking force on the New Zealand musical landscape, with this latest politically charged single set to take them to new heights.

Renowned for high energy, wild and engaging live performances, the band recently announced a run of headline single launch tour dates across New Zealand, to compliment an already bumper summer schedule packed full of festival appearances. Stay tuned for the rescheduling of their Australian tour dates with Mako Road.

Within two years of the band’s inception, they have charged the New Zealand music scene aggressively, having played some genuine feats such as Rhythm and Vines, Electric Avenue, Soundsplash, and opening for Kiwi and Aussie thumpers Shapeshifter, Lime Cordiale, Skegss, Bootleg Rascal, Jungle Giants, L.A.B and Mako Road.

Previous releases ‘Preashology’ (EP, 2019) and ‘Tunes From The Tuna Can’ (EP, 2018) have stamped the band as a sonically diverse coastal psych-rock force to be reckoned with, earning them a loyal fanbase along with a slew of media admirers.

Dolphin Friendly established their name from the band’s motivation to promote strong movement towards sustainability and social well-being, broadcasting their disregard for the degenerate systems and corporate mindsets destined to fuck the planet and its people through selfish greed and ignorance. The band are known for their passionate voice that confronts those systems with a powerful message, something that is so ingrained in their music and live performance.

With a work hard, play harder attitude, their motion promotes an awakened message based on their passion for music that is delivered from the heart of living from the present, all with the intention to create a better world. The band endeavour to back this up by actively donating 10% of all their tour profits to disadvantaged individuals, communities, or relevant causes in need.

A statement from the band: “Like most of our music, Killing Silence came to fruition as we acted on a strong feeling we felt as a band. The song is our way of acknowledging the existence of systemic racism around the world (and in New Zealand and Australia) vocalising how we think we can act in a more understanding way as society by accepting hurt and hardship, guiding us to a movement and awakening of greater unity. Although the song rides a wave positive change through its euphoric chorus’s, the rap and heavy rock counterparts speak anger for the people in the present. Ultimately, we want to promote messages for the better of the world, we just write music to avenue it”.
