Today, Dominic Fike has released his sophomore album Sunburn – a love letter to Florida and the complicated locale in which he was raised. The album is comprised of 14 ruthlessly honest dispatches about heartbreak and regret, addiction, sex, and jealousy.
The album is perhaps best represented by its title track ‘Sunburn’ a mission statement about life in South Florida: being too broke for higher education, the tears of a mother terrified about losing it all, and the resolve of the narrator to never let that happen. As the refrain goes: “when I die, lay me in the sun.”
The album features previously released tracks ‘Dancing in The Courthouse’, ‘Mona Lisa’, ‘Ant Pile’ and ‘Mama’s Boy’.
Fike was last in Australia for a sold out tour in 2019, off the back of his breakout single ‘3 Nights’ (8x ARIA Platinum) as well as ‘Phone Numbers’ (Platinum), ‘Babydoll’ (Platinum), ‘Chicken Tenders’ (Gold) and
‘She Wants My Money’ (Gold).
