One of Australia’s most celebrated indie artists, DOPE LEMON, has returned with the announcement of his fourth resplendent album, ‘Kimosabè’ (due Friday, September 1 via BMG). The news is paired with the release of the suave titular single – produced by the artist himself. The release was inspired by the cult classic film Step Brothers (2008) and samples the movie, with Will Ferrell and Judd Apatow credited as co-writers.
‘Kimosabè’ is a divine and open-armed universe, boasting ethereal and mesmerising soundscapes, that transcends the status quo. It’s the first DOPE LEMON album that reveals the face of Angus Stone, the project’s brainchild, on its cover. He comments: “This record is everything that’s me. In the past, the artwork has been anonymous in a way because I was trying to explore these styles, and having this shield in front of me was beautiful – I could sort of slink around in the shadows and wouldn’t have the public make judgement on the person behind it. This record, I had moments of clarity reflecting on my childhood, and I was able to see where I want to be in the future. So putting myself on the cover just felt right.”
Brimming with temperate melodic guitars and palliative drums, the title track is another effortless offering, complimented charmingly by DOPE LEMON’s sedative voice. The charismatic bass line allows the song to flow seamlessly, as the sultry production emits a tranquil atmosphere, embracing listeners in a laid-back manner. Guided by a funky strut and apt lyrics – “please, don’t go f*ck with my vibe” – the song’s motive and personality provide perception for the upcoming record.
Most recent album ‘Rose Pink Cadillac’ peaked at #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Chart and ARIA Album Chart and was crowned as triple j’s Feature Album in 2022. The record’s title track placed at #27 in triple j’s Hottest 100 (2021). The accolades don’t stop there, with David Letterman personally selecting DOPE LEMON’s ‘Marinade’ as the theme song for the new season of his hit Netflix show ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’.
DOPE LEMON has garnered over 625 million streams and counting across all platforms. Over the past three years, he has sold over 45 thousand vinyl, 12 thousand CDs and accumulated over 30 thousand album and track downloads. He has gained extensive support from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Atwood Magazine (USA), DIY Magazine (UK), Harper’s Bazaar, Rolling Stone, NME, Life Without Andy, The AU Review and Sydney Morning Herald.
DOPE LEMON’s discography has been Shazammed over half a million times in the past three years and has received over 14 thousand radio spins across the globe, with support from triple j, BBC Radio 1 (UK), BBC 6 Music (UK), iHeart Australia and KCRW (USA), amongst a plethora of others.
2023 is shaping up to be a huge year in the live arena for DOPE LEMON, with several dates scheduled throughout Europe, the UK and the USA, including festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands, Rockwerchter and Best Kept Secret. He sold out every date on his 2022 Australian and New Zealand tour, and has previously been booked on mainstay events such as Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, Yours & Owls, BASSINTHEGRASS, Rolling Sets and Day on the Lawn.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
