Praise for Drunk Mums

“A little more modern-sounding and definitely not a 70’s throwback even though there are obvious nods to older punk, like a punked-up, more confrontational and modern version of all your Aussie faves.” – SORRY STATE RECORDS

“Their efficient, no-fucking-around method, paired with their hands-on production might be the reason they, in the ever-growing ocean of bands in Melbourne, have managed to stay relevant and make good music that keeps hitting the spot.” – FORTE MAGAZINE

“The newer stuff is fucking great, and their older material is played with a renewed enthusiasm. The band seems reinvigorated, and their audience is more rabid than ever.” – THE MUSIC

“Drunk Mums are gurus when it comes to releasing the pressure valve through music. While they’re not exactly zen when on stage, they’ve got enough tongue-in-cheek rambunctiousness and hard-rockin’ chops that they undoubtedly experience their own form of nirvana when whipping crowds into a frenzy.” – WEIRDO WASTELAND (‘Roll With The Punches’, 2018)

Melbourne rockers Drunk Mums have returned with a rejuvenated take on the leather clad, boisterous brand of punk rock that has been having fans frothing, with a brand new album set to be released in November: Urban Cowboy. Such a return has been marked by a rollicking new single, ‘Phantom Limb’ – a perfect example of Drunk Mums’ new output: catchy, frenzied and steeped in rich riffs and grit. To celebrate the release of Urban Cowboy, Drunk Mums are going to be heading out on the road, taking in venues on the east coast  with the most ideal tour partners – New York’s own, Dirty Fences.

The band’s central ethos of presenting no-holds-barred rock music in its most undiluted form has continued to shine with ‘Phantom Limb’ and throughout Urban Cowboy, and has shown that Drunk Mums’ time on the road over the last few years has most certainly added to the finessing of this sound. Make no mistake, Drunk Mums haven’t lost any of their cheekiness or rambunctious swagger, but this new music positions the band in a more developed creative space.

Rhythmic, forceful and sonically bright, the new music from Drunk Mums is a heavy dose of rock music that the band is stoked to be unveiling later this year. Recorded by bass player Adam Ritchie and mastered by Mikey Young, Drunk Mums laid this new music down in May after spending April writing and developing new ideas.

“Half
[of it] sounds like what our dads would have listened to, and the other half is what our younger fans would chuck on…” – DRUNK MUMS

.

Having built a reputation over the years for their rowdy live shows and impressive knack for riling up their audiences with straight-to-the-heart punches of percussion and dirty guitar riffs, it’s no surprise that once you do a Drunk Mums show, you can’t turn back. Following on from performances around the country with the likes of Dune Rats, Richie Ramone, Red Fang and at events including Melbourne’s Cherry Rock FestivalSounds of the Suburbs and Party in the Paddock and their own sold out headline shows, the band has been able to indulge in a love for sweaty, rock n roll fun, while hone their craft as a formidable live unit at the same time.

November and December will also be seeing Drunk Mums make their long-awaited return to the stage, bringing with them a new live show that is set to blow. Off the back of a successful run of shows through Europe with their DENIM & LEATHER EPs, Drunk Mums are ready to enter a new chapter with Urban Cowboy. Joining Drunk Mums on the road, New York’s Dirty Fences; brandishing their own style of rock n roll, the Brooklyn group head to Australia after tackling Europe with their latest album, Goodbye Love. An album full of hectic riffs and chugging instrumentation, Goodbye Love is a great representation of the Dirty Fences sound, and complements Drunk Mums’ Urban Cowboy brilliantly. It’s a perfect coupling: wicked charm meets ferocious aesthetic. Drunk Mums and Dirty Fences on the road together is the type of show your parents warned you about.

Giddy up.
