Dune Rats have one simple message on the release of their 5th studio album……………. ‘IF IT SUCKS, TURN IT UP’! The louder the better!!
Out today, ‘If It Sucks, Turn It Up’ is Dune Rats most adventurous musical statement yet. It finds them evolving their sound and honing their melodic instincts across a diverse range of styles, all delivered with the energy and infectious humour that is unmistakably Dunies.
“We wanted to make an album that throws you around a bit, like you are being washed around in the surf,” Dune Rats singer and guitarist Danny Beus says. “We’re five albums in now so we knew it should be a record that shows all the different sides to the band.”
Featuring the full throttle ‘Be Like You’, the hypnotic ‘Solar Eyes’ and the eclectic smorgasbord that is ‘Cheapskate’ paving the way, the title track and album opener ‘If It Sucks, Turn It Up’, sets the album up perfectly with it’s full tilt punk rock spirit.
The video for ‘If It Sucks, Turn It Up’ is a stop motion creation directed and animated by Callum Scott-Dyson (Dinosaur Jr, Milky Chance), check it out below.
Of course the release of a new Dune Rats album will always come with a party, and Danny, Brett and BC always love to party with fans! The band will be travelling along the east coast starting in Sydney this evening for some “Beers, BBQ’s & Bullshit”. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet the guys and get your album signed. The details are……

Dune Rats will be joined by good mates FIDLAR for the ultimate transpacific matefest Australian tour kicking off on 28 August in Jindabyne. The shows have been selling like the proverbial hotcakes and have just been boosted again by the addition of New Zealand band DARTZ and New South Walse punksters The Pingers.
“The FIDLAR / DUNIES relationship has honestly been a touring brotherhood that has seen us ping pong all over the world. It’s been the best part of a decade playing shows together that started when they first came to Australia doing venues half the size of the ones we are playing on this tour. Can’t wait to show them how crazy it is to play in Australia this time round.” – DUNE RATS

On ‘If It Sucks, Turn It Up’ Dune Rats continue to evolve. Excited to explore new sounds and even revisit old ones, it’s a combination of a band in a creative sweet spot and refusing to be put in a box. It’s also the sound of three great mates loving making music together.
Danny says: “People ask us, ‘How did you keep a band going for 13 years?’ I always say that we were never the most attractive blokes or the most talented ones in the room. But the thing we do is love each other as mates and we always try to get better at everything we do. And that’s the answer to the question. Every day, we just keep going.”
“At it’s core, it’s an endearing celebration of friendship and life’s small joys. Contray to Dune Rats’ self-deprecating quip, this record doesn’t suck at all, but turn it up anyway.” – KERRANG 4/5

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
